Tommy made a good point about Anibal...
I would not be so fast to throw Ani in against the likes of Manny, Papi, & JV. While I'm going to the game, and would like to see Ani, I believe it best to start Moe with Ani in the wings. If Moe is good, save Ani for one of the "ten-in-a-row" we have coming up (like WA next week).

Fulchino down, Anibal up
Annie was good enough for Darth Vader.

If we want to have a competitive team in the future....
"Show the fans we're committed to winning and they'll start coming to the park." Alex Fernandez Carlos Del Gado Pudge Shef Moises Alou Leiter (yeah, I know...) CJ (ditto) Willis Payroll commitment has really been there for years - people in general just don't come. They'd ratgher wait for a victory parade (which is free). We have to be realistic and wring every ounce of productivity from these young players before we write the big checks (which hopefully we will after the stadium is a done deal).

Giants - Marlins on Memorial Day
So - I have front row RF seats for Monday night's game @ JRS. This will definitely hex it, but I'll ask anyway - will BB play Monday (after transcontinental flight from SF) and if so, will he still be sitting on 714? He's 0-2 tonight, and I'm thinking he may not play tomorrow (day game after night game). Discuss.

Half Price Tickets on WEDNESDAY vs. Cubs
"Take advantage of this great offer by 2:15 PM ET on Wednesday May 24..................." Oops - that's one hour & ten minutes after game time. Oops.

are tickets v Red Sox gone?
They're holding back a lot of prime tickets for the Ten Pack promotion (buy 9 games and get a guaranteed ticket to one BoSox game). As June 30 approaches, I expect a lot of good seats will open up.

What ever happened to these?
Insiders say the players didn't like them - no idea why. I have the Lowell from 2004 - hangs nicely in my den.

Second Guessing: Uggla's first inning bunt
Cardinal rule - Never try to bunt a ball over belt-high - it was, Dan did, pop-up out. Rookie mistake - forget it & move on.

2007 Baseball Draft
We need to get a catcher big time, methinks. Although that one cat in Single A seems to be doing ok. if you mean gaby sanchez, he's playing 1B. He's from UM and was never really a catcher there either. He played mostly 3B, 1B and DH until he was kicked off the team and out of school. but yeah, he is hitting 400 with 7 or 8 HR's already. I'd love to see him get a call up in sept. and get his crack at our 1B gig next year, or even 3B if Miggie is traded Gaby is an awful fielder. Strong, but inaccurate/wild, arm. DH material.

2007 Baseball Draft
I'd say get a good outfielder, we are going to need a center fielder so it seems, because unless we can get a trade done, none of the guys in our system seem to be cut out for the job. UM's John Jay could be available in June '06 - has speed, OBP, plus some power.

Fenway Park
ive been to Fenway...very nice stadium...it has a lot of flavor I've been there. The atmosphere is great, but.......... anyone over 5'10" is gonna have a real challenge sitting in those seats. The seating areas were manufactured over 80 years ago when people were a lot shorter. (bangs knees into seatback). And the restrooms are (well) pretty antiquated. The cheapest seats (deep RF) were priced at $30 in 1999. I asked some locals what they thought and they said "Tear it down. Modernize. Add more seats. Good riddance". Needless to say, I was quite surprised, but I can see their points. (After all, they tore down the sacred Boston Garden over ten years ago). Anyway, there was actually a plan to build a bigger Fenway replica right next door with a new Green Monster and everything - it was priced at $750,000,000 five years ago. Not sure what happened. Anyway - see it while you can. The internal infrastructure is pretty shaky, and I don't think it will be there anymore soon (like in 10 years).

Team intent on not leaving town
Samson has demonstrated a lack of agility in the areas of stadium negotiations as well as public relations. I think there's a split coming - would you employ the son of your ex-wife? Maybe the reason Benifest is sticking around is to become team President down the road (ala Dombrowski).

If Marlins relocate will you still be a fan?
I'll be through with MLB forever if they move. Ditto - Go Canes!!

what's the best section in Dolphins Stadium for Marlins games?
244 has some real die-hard fans. I saw Luis' 2002 hit streak end from there - people were going absolutely nuts!

MLB hires George Mitchell to investigate Bonds
Wasn't Mitchell once assigned by MLB to come down here and figure out how to (wait for it................) build a stadium for our Fish? The results speak for themselves. I don't expect anything out of Georgie this time either.

Update on stadium issues with Jerry Del Castillo
I'd like to see JDC do an english radio show. He's fluent in both. Surely 790 or 560 could find a 2 hour block to fit him in? (Looks at QAM opening from 2-4 M-F).

Mike Lowell should retire
Guaranteed contract => Red Sox will "buy him out" for 50 cents on the dollar, assuming 1H06 is really terrible/embarrassing. He will not retire of his own accord.

3/18 Yankees at Marlins

University of Miami vs Florida Marlins 3:05 PM
Courtesy of hurricanesports.com Coral Gables, Fla. - The No. 24 University of Miami baseball team will travel to Jupiter Wednesday to play an exhibition game against the Florida Marlins at 3:05 p.m. at Roger Dean Stadium. It will be the eighth meeting between the two teams, with the Marlins holding a 5-1-1 advantage in the series. UM junior Ricky Orta will get the start for the Hurricanes on the mound against the Marlins' Justin Vargas. Orta is 1-1 on the season with a 3.60 ERA and is holding opponents to a team-low .176 average. Miami won last year's meeting, 9-7, scoring six runs off Dontrelle Willis. Current UM sophomore Raudel Alfonso got the win and junior Danny Gil picked up the save last year as the Hurricanes pitched by committee. The `Canes are 2-23-1 all-time against Major League clubs. The game will be streamed live on the UM college station, "the voice", wvum.org

A writer's take on Marlins ownership
Since Samson is no longer "family", I see his tenure ending - soon. Timing all depends on how messy the divorce gets.
