April 21, 200917 yr Well, Stanton is hitting over 400 at Jupiter and Maybin isn't hitting at all in Miami. Sure, Stanton is young, but I would be delighted to see a Hermida, Ross and Stanton outfield for the rest of this season.
April 21, 200917 yr We arent giving up on Maybin this quickly. Dont you remember all the excitement he gave us at the end of last season. It will come soon enough. He was also pretty good in the spring. If anything, Stanton should be promoted to AA.
April 21, 200917 yr There is no way that is going to happen. I can't wait for Stanton either, but he was in regular Class A last year and is in Advanced Class A this year... and the minor league season just started. Is there a chance we'll get a peak at him when the roster expands at the end of the season? Maybe. But I think that that (and I think that is even unlikely) would be the extent of Stanton's time with Marlins this season. He needs to at least see some AA pitching... so hopefully they'll promote him to AA soon. Give Maybin a chance... he'll come around eventually.
April 21, 200917 yr As much as Stanton is lighting up Single A, why replace one guy who had some success in the minor (and major, at least last year in his call up) leagues with another? I don't think it is time to hit the panic button on Maybin and if you call up Stanton and he fares poorly, what next?
April 21, 200917 yr cornfield so far you've got the marlins calling up both Mike Stanton and Sean West, both of whom have just barely sniffed Double A baseball. Want to bring up Skipworth too while we're at it? Dominguez? stop panicing people.
April 21, 200917 yr Many people are calling 2009 Hermida's "last chance" to prove himself at the Major League level with the Marlins. It is his 4th full season in the bigs. Like Hermida, Maybin was a 1st rounder, however this is his first chance so why the hell would we give up on him 2 weeks into his 1st full season in the bigs??? Stanton is an amazing prospect and will one day become a superstar for the Marlins but there is no need to rush him and simlarly patience is required with Maybin.
April 21, 200917 yr Seriously you think the Marlins would start the arbitration clock on Stanton this year? Unless something has changed within the FO, I don't think we'll see Stanton until late 2010. As for Maybin's struggles, maybe a look at Raynor or Cousins would be a jolt for him to get going.
April 21, 200917 yr I think the Marlins would rather trade for Reggie Abercrombie before they even thought of calling up Mike Stanton this year.

Want to bring up Skipworth too while we're at it? Dominguez? stop panicing people. Heck, Stanton hasnt even been to AA yet. What Stanton has done as a 19 year old in the FSL is amazing so far though.
April 21, 200917 yr I think the Marlins would rather trade for Reggie Abercrombie before they even thought of calling up Mike Stanton this year. Yea, remember that monster shot in Cincinnati?
April 21, 200917 yr Author I'm calling on Sean West because he's the only starter in the system that is getting people out. Badenhop will get humiliated when the Marlins shove him out on the mound.
April 21, 200917 yr That guy was born in 1989... so, if he gets brought up I will be depressed because he is 4 years younger than me and it will mean I am getting old. Once I get over my "aging" self.... he can be sent up. Until then, NOPE!
April 21, 200917 yr I think the Marlins would rather trade for Reggie Abercrombie before they even thought of calling up Mike Stanton this year. Yea, remember that monster shot in Cincinnati? Yeah man. It still hasn't landed yet.
April 21, 200917 yr I think the Marlins would rather trade for Reggie Abercrombie before they even thought of calling up Mike Stanton this year. Yea, remember that monster shot in Cincinnati? All 493 feet of it
April 21, 200917 yr I'd rather not have Stanton become the next Wily Mo Pena. Constantly amazing people are clueless on player development. Cabrera, Beckett, and Hanley have really spoiled Marlins fans into delusional expectations.

April 21, 200917 yr Finally someone who understands the roster system. Stanton WILL NOT be called up this year. The Marlins are way too shrewd to start the clock on him. To be called up, even for the month of September you have to be on the 40-Man roster. Once there, the clock starts ticking before you become out of options. Maybin will be fine. He's too good of an athlete to continue to struggle at the plate. That's why it is good that the Marlins can let him develop in the eighth spot in the order. His center field play alone is enough to keep him in the lineup.
April 21, 200917 yr I don't know much but I know that unless he tears up A-ball like Cabrera and then AA and we make it to the playoffs and in his first AB he homers off Johan Santana in the bottom of the hey why not go for it its the cycle.
April 21, 200917 yr Cornfield, do you understand how the minor leagues work? I say this because so far all your choices of who to call up have been borderline ridiculous. You don't call up a starter who's had 12 innings in AA and an outfielder who's only played 10 games of Advanced-A ball! ...but I would be delighted to see a Hermida, Ross and Stanton outfield for the rest of this season. No, you wouldn't. You'd be furious within a week.
April 21, 200917 yr I think people should expect the same treatment the Blue Jays gave Travis Snider. And it will pay dividends. Just be patient.
April 21, 200917 yr I think the Marlins would rather trade for Reggie Abercrombie before they even thought of calling up Mike Stanton this year. I'll never forget the times I used to see Reggie play at RFK when I lived up in DC... Maybe putting in this Reggie would work after all... In all seriousness as it relates to the topic - Maybin will be fine. His hitting will come around, and even if it doesn't, he deserves the chance at it at least. Nevermind all the bad we can do by rushing Stanton. Let Stanton take his time on his way up and he'll be a monster up here, but there's no reason to rush him. We're friggin 11-2 with a 4? game lead on the division. There's no reason to worry about much of anything (except our fifth SP).
April 21, 200917 yr Michael Stanton is great, but 2011 is a more "realistic" date for his callup. Let's not go all crazy here/
