June 7, 201016 yr NEWSFLASH: STANTON IS NOT GOING TO HIT A HOMERUN EVERYTIME UP. I think you people need to get that through your heads. And why so much hate for Maybin? He is good in center (except for that play in the perfect game) and he has been getting some key hits lately, plus he is fast.

June 7, 201016 yr woooooooooo stanton. also, real glad RVH is up. took a few months, but whatever. LET THE SEASON BEGIN!
June 7, 201016 yr Everyone here knows that Bonifacio will produce what turns out to be the winning hit off Lidge in the 9th on Tuesday and not Stanton....right?
June 7, 201016 yr Hate that we sent down Carroll instead of Maybin. He should still be getting every day PT. Other than that, :clapping. Strasburg and Stanton to debut on the same night. That's going to be one of the biggest nights for prospects in quite a while. I'm not trying to start a feud here, but can someone explain to me the massive love for BC on this forum? I understand he is an above average defender, but he has never really been much of hitter. I don't see how keeping BC and demoting Cameron Maybin would be a beneficial move for a team. Maybe I'm missing something. Maybin needs everyday playing time which he wont get much of with Stanton here. Maybin is going to be part of this teams future while Carrol isn't so it would be best to get him right.

He is good in center (except for that play in the perfect game) and he has been getting some key hits lately, plus he is fast. Maybin has hit like crap and has been shaky in center, Cody may not be as fast as Cam but his reads, jumps, and routes are all better than Maybins. We called up Boni so we got some speed off the bench.
June 7, 201016 yr The offense needs a spark. Coghlan is finally hitting, but when Ronny Paulino is the team's most consistent hitter, it's time to amp up the power. No sh*t he won't homer every time, and he might struggle and strike out a lot at first (especially against Grandpa Moyer), but they've got to make this move. Dropping three to the Mets is unacceptable. I approve this move.
June 7, 201016 yr I agree that the pitching is a problem (well the bullpen anyway), but you can't honestly say that Stanton's presence in the lineup will not generate more offense and score more runs for our starters. The bullpen won't blow every game, especially the back end of the pen.
June 7, 201016 yr "It's getting to that point. It's June 6. You can't say that's it's early," said Cody Ross, who hit a three-run homer on Sunday. "We're right in the middle of it, and we have to start playing better. The way we're playing right now is not going to get it done. "We're not going to find ourselves where we want to come September if we keep playing like this. We've got to pick it up in all aspects. We've got to match up hitting with pitching, and we're not doing that. When we're hitting well, we're not pitching. When we're pitching, we're not hitting. When we are doing both, we're like playing bad defense. We've got to figure out a way to light a fire and turn this thing around." ---------------- That says it all to me. Nothing is clicking for the Marlins right now and I think us fans are just hoping that the presence of Mike Stanton will light a fire with the Marlins. Those players aren't ignorant, they've been hearing about Stanton for over the last year. They've known that he's been down in Double A dominating this season, they stood around in spring training and watched him taking batting practice in complete awe of what he can do. Let's hope Stanton is the spark we need to get the offense performing better. As for the bullpen, let's hope RVH is finally turned into the lights out reliever that many of us believe can be.
June 7, 201016 yr Where the heck is cornfield? You would think he'd have been all over this. He's pleasuring himself to pictures of Stanton in a Marlins uniform while using his tears as lubrication. Or at least that's what I'm doing.

NEWSFLASH: WE ALL KNOW THAT ALREADY No need to inform us on something we are all well aware of. I think most of us are simply hoping that he does well. Him destroying the league his rookie year would just be icing...a whole lot of it. I think any talk past that is more wishful thinking or outright ridiculous joking around...which is generally obvious (take some of my posts for example. You'd need you're head examined if you took half of them seriously). You don't expect Miguel Cabrera's every time a top prospect is brought up, but when it happens, it's a very welcome and awesome thing. In this case, I believe Stanton could very well have a Miggy rookie season, but I don't expect it. I expect him to struggle a little bit, adjust and grow.
June 7, 201016 yr How about this comparison? Juan Gonzalez before he was injury afflicted Stanton will K more. I expect him to walk a whole lot more, and put up better .OBP #'s than Juan Gonzalez did, when all is said and done (career-wise), too. In his first 2 full season in the majors Igor Gonzalez struckout 118 times in 142 games; 143 times in 155 games. I would hope Stanton does not strikeout more than that however I do also expect Stanton to walk much more than Gonzalez. if you look at the progression of Gonzalez as a hitter he reduced the K's significantly early in his career and his batting average climbed up very fast. I would expect the same to happen with Stanton He'll strikeout more than that.
June 7, 201016 yr Anyone betting he pulls a Miguel Cabrera on his first game? His career is gonna be exactly like Miggy's. He's gonna hit a walk-off home run in his first game, he's gonna have a solid rookie year and help us win the World Series, then he's gonna get fat and lazy but still put up good offensive numbers, and then he's gonna get traded when his salary gets to be higher than 25 cents. Oh well, I'll take it if it brings us another World Series.

Don't forget that after the trade, he's going to have to develop a strong liking for alcoholic beverages and develop a desire to beat on (or rather, be beaten on by) women
June 7, 201016 yr What good does Stanton do if he can't pitch the 7th. For example Sunday's game. Our offense was fine. No way Stanton would have affected that game. WE NEED BULLPEN HELP. I don't get why Stanton is gonna save this team if he can't pitch? If he shows he can hit ML pitching with anything near consistency then it opens up some trades before the cut off date. Problem with that is that I can see a trade or two that wouldn't go over big with alot of fans. Of course if he dosen't show he can make the adjustments, then I also think we are witnessing the final weeks of our illustrious hitting coach. Finally.

Thank god this tool got here in time to tell us all that Stanton isnt God himself. You know... people dont like it when someone acts like a gigantic know-it-all? Did it ever occur to you that EVERYONE knows that? Did you think you were the only one who knew that? Im curious to get a reason as to why you'd ever post such a thing. But lets be obnoxious! It's fun!
