Preston Wison sticks out like a sore thumb in that list

Yeah that 2000 season was an odd one.

No, he doesn't. Preston Wilson was really good for many years.

stunned that Bonds didn't wind up on that list so had to go back and look. The one season he led the league in RBIs, his 126 walks were only 2nd as Lenny freaking Dykstra walked 129 when he'd never even reached 90 before. wtf

anyway yes Stanton great things type here.

Buster Olney basically repeating my sentiments from a few weeks ago. Stanton is going to be able to dictate the trade market for him by agreeing or disagreeing to sign a long term deal with potential trade partners.

I think Olney is spot on with the Dodgers and Cubs being the most likely suitors, while the Red Sox would be in big, I just think those two teams match up best for our needs. Imagine a deal that included Kris Bryant and Jorge Soler... That could actually be realistic the more and more this season plays out.

If we got Bryant, Soler, Alcantara, and maybe one other person, that'd be fantastic. I don't see it happening, though. Cubs future is bright with those guys, just don't see them trading them, especially not Kris Bryant.

No way Cubs are giving Soler AND Bryant for anyone.

Plus Ricketts family is not exactly rolling in dough anymore.

What are you talking about? They just got approved to do something like a half billion dollar renovation to Wrigley Field over the next couple years, and I'm pretty sure they're paying for it.

Unless this is why you say they're no longer rolling in dough, but regardless, they're going to have the money after these renovations due to the advertisements they'll be able to have up there, plus more fans showing up with the future of this team looking rather bright.

EDIT - actually, fans show up regardless.

I would have absolutely agreed with you six weeks ago...

Today? Idk. Stanton has made himself unbelievably valuable. Like, he may literally command THE biggest potential return ever. In baseball history.

That warm feeling deep in the bottom of my heart........

its Mike Stanton Taking Mike Piazza's place slowly as my favorite Marlin of all time.

Giancarlo still has a little ways to go. An extention he agrees to will solidify it.

Why is Piazza your favorite Marlin, though? :lol

He was my favorite player before 1998, and he symbolized not only the 1997 Championship to me, but the 2003 championship as well.

That, and my second team has been the Mets since 1993 (grandfathers team). I'd share something with you, but I would be ridiculed until the end of time.

Did you and Mike Piazza share a sexual experience?

Mike Piazza: “I found it hugely insulting that people believed I’d go so far out of my way — living with Playmates, vacationing with actresses, showing up at nightclubs — to act out a lifestyle that would amount to a charade,” he writes. “If I was gay, I’d be gay all the way.”

His being gay all the way would involve a fat turd like me.

Bartolo Colon though, he could only be so lucky.

I hope Kershaw tanks the rest of the season. I'm really sick of hearing he should be the MVP...

^^As the national media goes, Kershaw plays for the Dodgers and Stanton plays for the Marlins, it will continue, unfortunately.

It Stanton can't win this year we will never have an MVP...

How many games has Kershaw played? Ya

If he doesn't top 200 innings and wins the MVP, what a joke.

It was either Friday or Saturday night that Tommy Hutton had a great line of "What is Kershaw doing tonight to help the Dodgers win? ...Nothing, because he's not playing."

As great as Clayton Kershaw is, that line perfectly sums up why he should not win the MVP.

Well, the plus is that ESPN did that mock vote like a week ago among the writers and Stanton did (barely) beat him.

Shoenfeld made a fair point that Stanton could win because some purists might vote Stanton first and not vote Kershaw AT ALL, where Stanton should collect at least the first or second place vote of every single writer no matter what.
