Posted July 10, 201113 yr Swept a 4 game series? Won 5 in a row? W: Volstad (5-8) L: Rodriguez (6-6) S: Nunez (25)
July 10, 201113 yr big series to take like that and a nice way to go into the break. huge home run by cameron. gotta keep it going and keep playing with confidence. really want to see omar get going and get out of the .250's.
July 10, 201113 yr Marlins whooped ass. 43-48 at the break..but on a hot streak. Won past 3 of 4 series. Now off to Chicago for another 4 game sweep, just cry Cubs...2003 is back.
July 10, 201113 yr Boni and Cameron, the stealing and the 2 run shot, everyone just doing the right things to get runs in, on their ace too even though he was off today
July 10, 201113 yr favorable schedule right now, keep taking advantage. Cubs, Mets, Pads, Nats, all coming up. Keep this up and they could be back at .500 by the end of the month.

July 10, 201113 yr love how jack is preaching small ball and taking pitches and being smart in certain counts instead of swinging 3-0 and that garbage.
July 10, 201113 yr Boni is putting it all together. Cookie Rojas said Boni has to keep playing well because he now has to put food on the table for 3. haha
July 10, 201113 yr its crazy, once the pitcher finishes batting i have become pretty confident that we will get base hits because boni is doing so well at the lead off
July 11, 201113 yr Bonifacio's actually making those former Luis Castillo comparisons look good. He sustains his success, and he's easily a starter (probably at 2B, his natural position). I'm glad to finally see him running; it's been the biggest change under McKeon for sure.

I'm glad to finally see him running; it's been the biggest change under McKeon for sure. The cool thing is that his peripherals look sound. His BB% is up a bit, and while his BABIP is about .020 above his career average, his LD% is up 2%, so it makes sense. It'd be great if he sustains it. I'd bet his UZR improves if he gets to play at just 1 position, too.
July 11, 201113 yr People will hate to admit this, but BroncoBob has been high on Bonifacio since he's been a Marlin. Seems he was right.
July 11, 201113 yr Maybe too soon to ask but its on my mind... many have thought Boni is best when he's coming off the bench in that super utility role... is anyone thinking he could become a legit longterm starter? And even if he could, would he be more valuable as a starter or, again, in that super utility role?

He's definitely a long term starter if he can put up a .725 OPS and play above-average 2B while running rampant.

I'm glad to finally see him running; it's been the biggest change under McKeon for sure. Funny how I was thinking the exact same thing. And the only reason I can see for the change is what the talking heads have been saying. Jack letting him loose and taking the pressure off him to fail or not at the plate and on the bases. So far that seems to have made things "click" for him. But before we get as excited as alot of fans did his first week with us, let's see how it plays out for the rest of the season. He still is going to have to show he can work himself out of a slump and/or adjust to further adjustments from pitchers and defenses. He shows that and Omar becomes trade bait. And that will not make my daughter happy. Her son plays 2B in LL and as a favor my sales rep just got us a signed ball in a case from him.

I have just always said the potential is there, just wondering when it would all come together. And I tend to root for the guy that most everyone else is exagerrating the lows and ignoring the highs. Anyone paying attention would also know I'm not the only one. Still gotta wait to see if he can do this with consistency and also work his way out of slumps. Both things are very important. Let's not go overboard quite yet.
