November 30, 201312 yr I thought the quote from above was a satirical post. Nope http://miami.marlins.mlb.com/news/article/mia/marlins-know-defense-will-be-key-factor-in-resurgence?ymd=20131119&content_id=64034546&vkey=news_mia That rather worries me that our GM is ranking off outdated stats (Zone Rating and Range Factor) as a showing that he knows about advanced statistics. At least he's up to date for 2003?
November 30, 201312 yr I thought it was satirical at first too. The Marlins never cease to amaze me with their backwards lunacy.
November 30, 201312 yr Besides Mark Ellis, apparently we're interested in Red Sox prospect Garin Cecchini. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/florida_marlins/index.html Sounds like a great prospect, but as they noted, with Colin Moran coming would this make sense? The Marlins once thought that Jeremy Hermida was a can't miss "prospect" too. Where's he at now?

November 30, 201312 yr Regarding Cecchini, it would be great to acquire him. It's always good to acquire good players/prospects. The more of those you have, the better.
December 1, 201312 yr I'm getting tired of this. I wanna hear something marlins related. Even if we find out Pierre or polanco or whoever went somewhere. All I know is valiakia went to cubs and that's it. We gonna get trumbo or not?? We are not getting Trumbo.

The Marlins once thought that Jeremy Hermida was a can't miss "prospect" too. Where's he at now? Hermida was never THAT bad for us, either. He just never lived up to all the hype... In his 5 years with us, Hermida garnered a total of 2.3 WAR. 2.4 of that WAR was in 2007. In his other 4 seasons, he totaled -0.1 WAR. He was a below average runner, a below average fielder, and a below average hitter. He was bad. The only thing he did "okay" was hit RHP at an average clip and that has no value from a bad fielding, bad running RFer. There's a reason he hasn't broken 100 total PA in the past 3 years.
December 2, 201312 yr Watching dvr recording of mlbs greatest games ws gm 7 1997..... I want f'n that title again man. No feeling like it.

December 2, 201312 yr Just read a rumor on Yahoo that the Brewers are interested in Morrison and the Marlins may non-tender him. What?
December 2, 201312 yr That is crazy to non-tender Morrison, it makes no sense anyway you look at it . It's not like we have a solid prospect in the minors waiting to get his chance
December 2, 201312 yr I would be completely stunned if we non tendered LoMo. Nothing would stun me with the Marlins. I don't think they will get much for him if they deal him.
December 2, 201312 yr A trade idea from David Schoenfield that I think has no chance of happening as not sure why we would need Fowler...: Three-team trades aren't easy to dream up, let alone to achieve, but ESPN's David Schoenfield has five of them to entertain you in what's been a quiet day at the hot stove. One idea has the Rockies shipping Troy Tulowitzki to the Pirates and Dexter Fowler to the Marlins and receiving top Pirates prospects Gregory Polanco and Alen Hanson, along with Marlins closer Steve Cishek and prospects Jake Marisnick and Justin Nicolino. The Marlins would also receive Pirates shortstop Jordy Mercer in the deal. It's a fun idea, although, as Schoenfield suggests, it's questionable whether the cost-conscious Pirates would be willing to take on Tulowitzki's enormous contract. Here's more from around baseball.
