Fair, but if Paddack wouldn't get us a starter then who would in your opinion?

Garrett Braxton. You guys think I'm kidding. That's the guy.

Your sarcasm was out toward "mocking" those who think we can get a starter. Unless you're mocking someone who said to give up 5 garbage prospects for Archer/Gray which I havent seen. Good try

Unless you're talking about in the offseason then give it up. He cannot be traded.

DONT WORRY GUYS WE CAN AFFORD RICH HILL ITS AN SP DOWN MARKET LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!GOOD THING WE GAVE UP OUR TOP 75 PROSPECT FOR A 39 YEAR OLD RELIEVER

My theory on the Rodney acquisition is the Marlins knew they weren't going to land an impact starter so they went for the impact reliever.

This is false. The Marlins got Rodney with every intention of also getting a starter. The reliever acquisition does not mean they gave up on getting a starter.

I want Disco back.  I say we take on Votto's contract as long as Disco is part of the return.  Then we trade Bour for another back end starter.

I guess we will find out in the next two weeks

Disco would be perfect

Votto is one of the best players in baseball (yeah, fight me about it) so I doubt simply taking his contract is enough to acquire him. He also has eight years left on it.

I'm still on board with this despite his recent struggles

I think they would gladly take that money off of their books during their rebuild process.  Also; he's good but I'm not quite so sure about being one of the best in baseball.  Didn't realize he signed such a long extension.  Just saying, they are going to have to to think outside of the box in order to add a quality pitcher. Not many options and not enough equity in our farm system to compete for arms with others teams.

7.4 fWAR last season, .459 on base percentage, and almost as many walks as strikeouts throughout his career. Down year this season, sure, but he's 32, so I doubt it's a decline, just a down year. Not saying you're wrong that the Reds wouldn't mind taking his contract off their books, but it would take a lot more than you think to pick him up, if simply because other teams would also be willing to pay him and give up better prospects than Josh "Can You Believe I Was a First Round Pick?" Naylor.

How about take back another Reds and former Marlins DeSclafani, pitching good after come back from injury, traded him away for terrible Latos was one of the most suck trades in Marlins history.

Why would the Reds trade a good, controllable, young starter? That's what they need to trade FOR, and they have plenty for sale (Bruce, e.g.).

To dump Votto 's contract.

Well Polly can project people from Low-A so him projecting after 3 mlb starts is no big deal.

Leave pollyvonwog alone.  Polly is the man!

By the way, one other thought on the Rodney deal that I have not seen raised. Fish traded for Rodney on June 30. The deadline is August 1. That means a team trading for a starting pitcher at the deadline is looking to get about 11 starts out of that player. Rodney will have been a Marlin for over 80 games once the season ends and could easily pitch in 40 of those games. That's pretty good bang for your buck. (I'm new here to Marlins Grindr, but why do I feel like that last sentence will be taken out of context?)

Marlins willing to part with hech for SP accrd to rosenthal.

Not sure if posted or not.

Yep just saw Rosenthal report that. He said theyre going after one of Archer, Moore, or Ordorizzi. Love that they're exploring Hech deals.
