March 29, 20215 yr Tommy Bahama Marlin Bar? hahaha ---- Well, @Piazza31 said this in the other thread On 3/26/2021 at 12:12 AM, Piazza31 said: I’m going to say this, the team naming rights deal will be tied to the TV deal. I’m really starting to thing Bally’s Park is going to be the name after seeing the signage come down and the timing of the TV deal announcement. I asked him about it and he didn't respond. I assumed he was talking about the "MARLINS PARK" one on the roof. I don't work in Miami anymore so I'm not down there in the area to drive by often anymore. May be worth taking a trip down just to check it out.

March 29, 20215 yr The only thing we know is that it is NOT Publix. The Bally's idea makes a lot of sense, as does the Ocean Bank one. I think it might be something a little more unexpected, like UHealth Park or something like that. I guess we'll know before Wednesday though, things like this always leak before official announcements are made. Burger King Koliseum? ¿Estadio Sedano's? Bang Bus Fuck Field? Miccosukee Marlins Park?
March 29, 20215 yr I always thought it would be between Bacardi (though I think they aren’t allowed to) Pepsi, Ocean Bank, Carnival cruise lines (though that industry is wrecked right now) and Miccoussukee (not sure if they are allowed cause of gambling). But yeah, I’m assuming it’s Bally’s now or something they own Edited March 29, 20215 yr by marlinsmaniac
March 29, 20215 yr The fact the announcement is the same day as Bally's makeover of the network makes it seem connected. The only question for me would be why Bally's would do that. Normally the naming partner has a presence in the area of the stadium. As far as I know, there are no Bally's properties in South Florida.
March 29, 20215 yr why are the marlins so desperate for naming right, Marlins Park is a clean name , if you can't afford a MLB team don't buy one cheap bastards

It seemed to me like Miccosukee was advertising less in the past few years, so not sure I see that being it. Ocean Bank is already a sponsor and seemed to take up more advertising space when Jeter and Co took over, so that wouldn't be surprising. I was rooting for Publix Park - with the concession stands serving their chicken tenders lol. Let's just hope it sounds good whatever it is......your options sound terrible lol. 1 hour ago, SonOfJack said: The fact the announcement is the same day as Bally's makeover of the network makes it seem connected. Yeah, on the surface it can seem that way. It could signal them trying to get more into the market. OR, we could be reading too much into it, and it could simply be that it got done late, and they just want to announce it before Opening Day/have the new name being put up on the park/have it ready for all the advertising and whatnot on the new telecast. 1 hour ago, el_gmac said: why are the marlins so desperate for naming right, Marlins Park is a clean name , if you can't afford a MLB team don't buy one cheap bastards Better tell that to the Phillies, Mets, White Sox, etc. that all have named parks. If they found a deal they feel is appropriate, I don't see the problem, it'll only be a new revenue source.
March 29, 20215 yr I just realized MLB The Show 21 will be out of date already with the name change, DAMN!

Yeah, I’m guessing it probably won’t be Bally’s park. Because as you said, there isn’t really a Bally’s presence anywhere in South Florida, and as far as the network changing it’s name, it’s not like FS Florida/FS Sun are the only stations changing, actually all the Sinclair RSN around the country, 19 the last time I checked, are changing their names on March 31st. If Bally was a Florida based company and exclusively bought FS Florida, then I could see it happening. Of course, there is always a small chance it could have decided to sponsor the naming rights of an MLB Stadium as well, but I would imagine it will most likely be another company. Well, I guess we’ll see on Wednesday!

Yeah, the Marlins Park signage came down off the 836 side of the ballpark, someone had posted a picture of it on twitter. The photo they had showed simply "LINS Park"

Bally's is interested in making a big push in the gambling world and television. This is cheap quick advertisement nightly throughout the US and most importantly for them- they were able to leverage the Marlins needs for a TV deal and sponsorship agreement into one deal. Ballys doesn't really do just fitness anymore, it caught me by surprise too. But ONLY after I started researching why fox would sell their stations to a fitness brand. They probably will have an app soon when its legal in florida to place in game wagers and probably already have an agreement set up to place a betting office inside the stadium too. Just goes to show how piss poor this ownership overestimated the naming rights worth and TV contracts.

Just goes to show how piss poor this ownership overestimated the naming rights worth and TV contracts. I don't see how this is relevant or even a thing? 1) we don't know the final terms of either deal 2) If either deal (probably more the naming rights than tv) weren't something they were happy with, I'd assume they wouldn't sign a deal. 3) There's been general concern that the TV rights bubble will burst, and if, as has been rumored, we bettered the previous group's arranged 50M/year deal, that's good, especially if it's a shorter term deal, where things can be renegotiated as the team does better, and/or explore other options like streaming. As for naming rights, as I said above, it's been nearly 9 years now (wow, crazy that it's already been that long) without a naming rights deal. They could've kept without one, but got something they liked. The TV deal they're more limited. 45 minutes ago, SonOfJack said: I know of them as more of a casino than a gym anyway.
