Fish not even gauging interest? Hopefully, Heyman's sources just aren't aware of the fish.

Rojas just signed an extension, without delving deeper I can see how people might think we're not in the market for a SS.

I guess but Boston has Xander and is listed.

That's the Red Sox, we're the Marlins, you know how it is.

Thing is the Sox are dying to get Devers off of 3B so moving Bogy to 3B and putting a Seager/Correa type at short would work considering Jeter Downs is knocking on the door at 2B and should be up at some point next season. The plan would be to move Devers to DH and this being JD’s last season with the Sox (and possibly of his career according to a personal source) now is the time for them to make that move.

I would hope Chris Taylor would just be one move of several if they go for him. If they were to just sign Taylor and do nothing else, the off-season would be a failure IMO.

Right, but there’s really 3 true spots available. CF, Corner OF, C. With the two OF spots, they really need to find true middle of the order production to allow guys like Lewin Diaz, Brian Anderson, etc., to be more 6/7 hitters.

This team is missing two impact bats. I don’t think Chris Taylor fills that void. Yes, he’s better than De La Cruz, brinson, etc, but that’s not necessarily the barometer we should be measuring off of

I read that Oakland is possibly slashing payroll and would probably be open to trading their top Arbitration eligible players including 3B Matt Chapman.  He has 2 years of control left.

What would a trade package for him look like?  Maybe Meyers, Brian Anderson, Misner, plus some smaller pieces gets it done? Thoughts??

1. Anderson is at about the same spot with club control so that's not solving that problem.

2. Chapman hasn't been the greatest hitter in the world lately so that'd be one hell of an overpay for a slightly better overall option at third base.

3. It's Meyer, not Meyers.

4. If they're just looking to cut salary, teams aren't really going to give up much.

Well, Chapman has a heck of alot more power than BA,  and as good as I think BA is defensively, Chapman is better.

Plus he was a much better hitter before his hip surgery in 2020, and he's only 29.  Maybe he can revert back form?

If not Meyer, then perhaps McCambley or one of the other slightly lesser young arms?

There's also the option of going after Matt Olson for 1st base instead.  He's a better hitter than Chapman and a Gold Glove 1st baseman.  Not sure how many years of control he has left though.

I just think the A's make a good trade partner.  Especially since they are looking at a possible rebuild.

I have no choice but to believe Marlins would have the best off-season among all 30 teams.

Lol, I'd love it, but let's lower our expectations....

With so many teams try to slash the payroll (as usual ), it wouldn't surprise me if this team try to upgrade the positions besides the OF and C via trade.

Yeah. At least we can be sure the marlins won’t slash payroll since their 2022 payroll is almost nothing at this time.

Who besides the A's is known to be slashing payroll?

Lol, don't tempt or challenge them.

I can't wait for you to be disappointed, rant about it, and then threat to leave

why so eager to get rid of Meyer ? I'm of with the rest of the package to get it done

I like Meyer, but you have to give to get.  Plus, our arb eligible pitchers aren't what the A's would be looking for.  That leaves Cabrera, Sanchez and Meyer (happy @Michael LOL) and I would rather give up Meyer.

@el_gmac, if you don't like me you can always ignore my posts, maybe you think I'm a bandwagon fan but I just want this team to win and I have no other team to root for.
