I know most people here choose not to believe this team would spend big, I choose to believe in them and why ? because believe or not you're still a fan of this team and choose to believe made me feel better.

Maybe I would never know the reason they lowballing Marte in my whole life.

Because they are making money either way and it's less risk to shed payroll...they owe you nothing.

There you don't have to wait your whole life...you know now.

So they cutting the payroll in the deadline then trying to increase the payroll in the off-season (of course you don't believe in that) ? maybe they just have confidence they would acquire better player in the off-season …

If they have already cut payroll then they already made money on their saving...unless that was factored into their budget at the start of the season? So it wouldn't be adding payroll if you factor in the moves.

I hope confidence knows how to play center field.

Well, positive sign they're meeting with these people (Marte's agent, Boras, etc).  But they can meet all they want, if the agents say we're looking for "$x M" and Ng/Marlins look like deer in headlights and walk away, that doesn't mean anything.

Let's be honest. They'll "try" but not pay the price in the end. I've seen this episode before

I do believe the Marlins are trying to improve and trying to win.

I do believe there's a heightened urgency compared to last season and offseason.

I do believe they'll do more than they've done over the past year because they see how their lack of action didn't work so they'll do more now than they did then.

I don't believe they're happy with being a losing team.

They do want to see their work thus far start to pay off.

Jeter doesn't want to be seen as a failure, Ng needs to prove herself.

The question is really how limited they are in payroll, how cheap are they gonna be?

That's the biggest question that will shape their offseason.

Should not be very limited right now and thus should not be cheap. So it'll be pretty telling if the cheapocity continues.

The best thing about Phillies fans is that they have not completely given up hope like Mets fans, so the still take the bait.

That wouldn't be hard

I can see it now:

Ng announces: MARLINS MADE A HUGE MOVE.

Reports come out...."MARLINS SIGN NEW BAT BOY"

Ng quoted as saying "we really think this huge move really upgrades our team and was the missing piece the last few seasons."

I’ve said it before, but as much as signing Marte is a positive thing, and I agree they absolutely should, If signing him is the main outfield upgrade they make then the outfield is technically worse than opening day 2021 when they had both Marte and Duvall. In order for them to move the needle, Marte should be more or less the 3rd best player they pick up this off-season, not the highlight of it. And sure I’ll give the off-season time to develop. But considering what I’m hearing from Ng and the impending shutdown, I’m not feeling overly-confident.

Probably but I'll hold out some minor hope.

You’re in luck then, they plan on signing a lot of MINOR league players

That should be the name of your autobiography.

I DO BELIEVE: A MARLINS TRAGEDY

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

Seriously, I love your optimism.

Definitely agree here.
