It seems like a very bad idea considering your 3B depth chart is then Wendle, Berti, Devers, Hope, Prayer.

Ditch Aguilar/Cooper and get 2 CF if you won't/can't trade for Reynolds/Laureano.

I agree 100% but you and I both know that there have been a surplus of bad idea's on this team over the years.

Meyer threw 4 perfect innings today, surprised nobody mentioned it

The Fangraphs 2018 Marlins Elegy mentioned it

I would’ve had a hard time not doing a deal centered around Bleday & Meyer. Bleday, Meyer, Salas, Fulton would’ve been my best offer.

Damn, that feels like quite a lot to give up. I usually think most of the trade proposals on here overvalue our prospects, but your proposal gives me anxiety haha

No, he's just trying to get our hopes up. Ban him for that.

Man ... there's two things I've been wondering for a long time and just can't get a proper answer.

1. When are they releasing the 2018 Marlins Season Elegy?

2. Is Schitt's Creek a good show?

If you ever needed a summary of marlinsbaseball.com, this post is it.

The team is not acquiring a CF’er (or a closer) before the season begins.

Mish has already confirmed.

I'm not surprised.

Sticking point in a trade for Trout was that he wouldn't extend for 12 mil per season.

Austin Hays, Kevin Kiermaier, and Cole Sulser had 6.4 WAR last year. They make around $15m in 2022. Hayes and Sulser controlled 4 years.

Aguilar, DLC, and Bass had 1.6 WAR last year. Aguilar and Bass have low control and DLC years. They make around $12m in 2022.

Just wanted to say that if Reynolds/Laureano are cost prohibitive in prospects, you can easily move Aguilar/DLC and attach Bass to a trade dump as it's only $3m. Baltimore would have to do backflips to get Sixto/Eder, Burdick/Salas, Lewis/Morisette/Jerar, DLC, and Bass for those guys, and what does Tampa want, an outside top 15 prospect to absorb $13m of Kiermaier? Marlins absorb all the money!

So saying we're not getting a CF is dumb.

They can do it, preserve Watson/Eury/Meyer/Cabrera/Bleday which seems to be a conceptual issue, and barely spend any more money. Maybe I am wrong and Baltimore wants more, but come on. That's an aggressive prospect trade to me.

Always be upgrading. Be creative. (Of course blow it out for Reynolds also).

The way I read it, he's saying they know they need a CF and could revisit a trade later but just aren't comfortable with the price for now.

I'm more bugged that they seem done looking for a closer.

Fingers crossed we start the year decent enough that they want to add a CF as the year goes on.

Maybe I’m ignorant, but is De La Cruz much worse than Austin Hays?

every Rays fan I know hates Kevin Kiermaier and wants him gone with a passion because he doesn't have much to offer in the way of batting ability so I'm sure that means he'd fit right in here.  I know he plays a fantastic CF but i really don't want him here as it'll do nothing to help the offense at all.  I'd rather give up some better prospects for a guy who offers a little more than pure defense.

i guess I shouldn't say EVERY rays fan i know - there are some females I know that go gaga for the dude - but the people who actually care about on-field performance are looking for a change.
