I also question if thats light and not taking into account the new expanded ESPN deal (likely), the Apple deal (less likely) and the Peacock deal (even less likely).

So its probably a good 10 - 15 mil more for each team....

Yeah I’d agree that’s probably right

Garcia and Soler, two guys that I don't think any of us wanted lol

My biggest concern is we'll need to be extra lucky on the prospect hits.

It's conceivable that Bleday and Watson are superstars, Eury/Meyer, etc. improve our rotation. Wonderful. You've built a team, but nothing is "sustainable" with such little room for error that you constantly refuse to spend on a star.

This is going to be like the Pirates during McCutchen's prime. A few seasons of being good and then nothing, because they are cheap and incompetent.

I dunno...an injured and potentially underperforming player who can't make it on the field feels pretty par for the course for the Mets...

I think we they should take the wait and see approach -- there is plenty of time for that NY fan base to get the torches and pitchforks.

Yes they need breakouts to contend. However, they need to take a swing at CF to create a better product. Developing a culture is IMPORTANT. This team needs the Jayson Werth type acquisition right now. Does it make financial sense? Probably not. Culturally? It would be amazing combined with everything else.

But do something. Garcia and Soler are not that. The rest of free agency is bare, so this means a trade.

Blow it out for Reynolds and Bednar

Aggressively trade for Laureno and Montas (with maybe Kemp and Trivino in a total farm blockbuster)

Trade for Ketel Marte

Trade for Mullins and Sulser

Trade for B. Marsh, and then sign Johnny Cueto to bridge to Meyer/Sixto/others in the summer.

Go for it. Don't waste a year of Sandy and Rogers control. Spend real money in IFA if you're worried about the farm. It's not easy.

It's kind of amazing that they can still make it a fairly decent offseason if they'd continue to make moves like what you're proposing, despite leaving some major relatively inexpensive upgrades/signings (i.e. Correa) on the table.

Trade for him ?

Hellllll nah. Don’t let half a season with the cubs fool you, dudes become a train wreck when the pressure is on.

Apparently, the Fish didn't want to trade either Meyer or Bleday for Reynolds.  I'm surprised they balked at Meyer.

Bleday I get because he's a hitter and he's probably close to ready.  It makes more sense to trade from our pitching surplus and younger hitters in the lower ranks.

I guess that would make Eury and Watson untouchable as well since they are rated higher?

The Marlins are overrating Meyer. He's going to be a really good reliever at the big league level, but is absolutely not a guy who should be untouchable, especially in a trade for someone like Reynolds who isn't a free agent until 2026. Hell, I'd give them BOTH Meyer and Bleday if it got Reynolds.

This team better to acquire impact CF and CL before the opening day to enhance their chances to be a buyers in the deadline.

So basically they don't want to trade any top prospects for anyone.

Agreed, I'd trade the prospects for proven MLB talent. Just take a look at Lewis Brinson who was destroying in AAA and could barely hit above .200  in the majors. Obviously, not all prospects are created equal, but neither bleday or meyers are proven mlb ready. Fortunately the Marlins have good pitching depth, so it's worth the gamble to upgrade the mlb club.

What pile of shit were they offering for Reynolds then I wonder. I'd give up Bledey and Meyer+ in a heartbeat if it meant Reynolds.  Wasn't there also a potential trade nixed for Reynolds last deadline for the same reason? They just really overvalue their prospects. Noting more frustrating than a team that both overvalues their prospects while having a deep farm.

I would’ve had a hard time not doing a deal centered around Bleday & Meyer. Bleday, Meyer, Salas, Fulton would’ve been my best offer.

If I remember right, that was for Brandon Marsh.

It might have been. I just know there was some tweet or article posted and quite a few of us were like wtf, why wouldn't you do that trade - and then we were all idiots and just assumed they'd re-sign Marte during the off-season lolololol

From what I remember reading it was the Angels who didn't want to do the trade of Meyer for Marsh (although I don't remember if the proposal was a 1 for 1 or Meyer + others).
