This a million times.  Even setting aside how good the rest of the rotation could be, these two are goddamn flamethrowers.  Don't half-ass this.

Exactly. I think they know this. If you told us the offseason is:

New legitimate longterm CF
Sandy Longterm Extension
Starting RF (Garcia)
DH/4th OF Upgrade (Soler)
Best catcher available, controlled for 3 years, trading outside top 12-15 prospects (Stallings)
Elite utility man for 2 years of control for the 8th best OF in the organization (Wendle)
Rojas 1 year extension, reasonable price
Bleier 1 year extension, reasonable price
6th/7th bullpen RHP for nothing (Head)
No Brinson

I think we'd all be very happy. They just haven't done # 1 yet. Of course it's the big one, but there is time.

Maybe they do a smaller trade at this point if they are hellbent at not trading Watson/Eury/Meyer/Bleday/Cabrera - like for Austin Hays. He has graded as a very good defender for his career and hits a bit. He can play CF. Not sure if anyone has mentioned him, but he's certainly a step below Reynolds and Laureano.... but he also projects as a 2 WAR guy with some pop to maybe grow a little. Orioles have Mullins, and two of their top 6 prospects are OF (plus guys like Santander and free agency). They have some OF help coming. Organization has no middle infielders.

Maybe the Marlins can throw them like Sixto, Burdick, I. Lewis, and DLC for Hayes and Sulser. Baltimore takes a big swing on an injury risk pitcher, and Burdick and Lewis are trending up for them. DLC maybe turns into something as a throw-in. I think they'd want Salas which may still be OK but that probably becomes Sixto/Salas/Jerar/DLC instead.

We don't care about those 4 guys if Hayes/Sulser play a 2.5+ WAR this and next year (they were a quiet 3.9 last year combined). Baltimore would have to be thrilled turning them into a top 100 arm, an almost top 100 bat, and some reasonable flyers. They also could never ask for Watson/Eury/Meyer/Bleday/Cabrera for them which seems to be important.

They could also keep Cooper here and have a phenomenal bench. You just have to trust Berti/Garcia/Sanchez to play a good enough backup CF. I'll accept that positional downgrade for the bash and play Hayes for the defense into ground. Even better if you move Aguilar/Cooper and a defensive CF (KIERMAIER). That would be awesome actually.

Stallings, Fortes
Aguilar, Cooper
Jazz
Rojas, Berti
Anderson, Wendle
Sanchez, Soler
Hayes
Garcia

Sandy, Rogers, Pablo, Hernandez, Luzardo
Floro, Bender, Sulser, Cabrera, Pop, Head
Bleier, Okert

This works. It's not sexy as Reynolds, but the response there is - the top of the farm not listed above is Watson, Eury, Meyer, Bleday, Burdick/Salas, and Eder. The whole gang is together and then reassess in June/July.

Meyer needs to be in this rotation with Alcantara, Rogers,Cabrera. I’d be fine shipping Lopez, Hernandez out for a bat.

I love Pablo and think he's excellent. Sandy, Rogers, Pablo, Cabrera will be very good.. part of me would love to see Meyer but also want to see if Luzardo can prove himself this year. Big year for him.

Side note, I've always thought Hernandez would make an excellent closer. Has that ever been discussed before?

It's what I afraid, they don't want to spend big in trading players just like they don't want to spend big in signing players.

To be fair they're still working on it. They might be willing to trade what's needed but can still try to negotiate a more favorable trade. If they're still actively negotiating then in that sense it's a good thing and there is still time to get something done.

I really don't want to trade Watson, especially if we're looking at the next tier of trade targets. I hope he can be that generational superstar bat we haven't developed since Cabrera. He looks freaking good.

BIG BOI TRADE COMIN

I did read somewhere that they tried moving BA as part of a package for a CF earlier.

A BA trade always seemed inevitable to me but I also feel like the second they trade him they would regret it.  He always struck me as the type that would flourish on another team.

Pablo makes me nervous with his injuries I don’t think he’s had a healthy season for the Marlins yet( 4 season 62 games), Would rather flip him and get a vet bat to help the lineup

The issue with a Pablo trade now is, it's fine if he is the centerpiece for a CF..... but now you have to find a veteran SP to replace him. Hernandez and Cabrera are likely capped around 125 IP, Meyer maybe 130-135 (but half of his minimum will be in minors), and Rogers/Luzardo 160-170 range. Maybe a little lower for Luzardo and Rogers on the high end. They need to replace Pablo's innings. This would be easier with a healthy Sixto, but that's not a thing.

There isn't much left and it's foolish to trade a real asset for one with Meyer, Eury, Eder, and others coming pretty quick it seems. If Pablo is the trade, it should have happened earlier and then sign some arms to help with that.

I think he's a hold. I think they should trade Aguilar/Cooper (either one), Sixto, Burdick/Salas, Lewis/Jerar/Morisette/Fitterer, DLC, and outside top 20 prospects for TWO center fielders. See above - Austin Hayes and Kevin Kiermaier sort of thing. This is absent Reynolds/Laureano ideas, then blow it all out.

It seems like a very bad idea considering your 3B depth chart is then Wendle, Berti, Devers, Hope, Prayer.

Ditch Aguilar/Cooper and get 2 CF if you won't/can't trade for Reynolds/Laureano.

Fish Stripes saying more than last four years combined going to arbitration and I'm asking how many were arbitration eligible over those years.

Add in the lockout and being unable to negotiate over those times, and ... maybe this isn't so bad.
