Bass proves last year he sucks The offense failed in the 10th and that was the middle of the order... I know it's Game 1, but this team will lose these close games until they spend and get that big elite clutch bat, they sure as hell can't draft and develop them... canada-marlin24 Posted April 9, 2022 Share Posted April 9, 2022 Just so frustrating - lots of good things happen late with a great comeback and that goes up in smoke on two pitches. Then they make a great play to eliminate the ghost runner and still manage to lose in the same inning. All in all I like the look of the lineup. The bullpen is extremely suspect - Bender and Bass have good stuff but when they are put in clutch situations they usually dont get it done. That Scott dude from the Orioles looked nasty with his pitches. If Mel can get him straightened out and he learns a little bit more control that's your closer right there. Really wish they had Holloway up for the pen. Bryan Reynolds please. Could have made the difference in this game. How can Donnie baseball stay with Bass when he walks the next batter after the bang bang play. Could have used Armstrong perhaps to start the inning instead. Meh. Cooper leaving the bag didn't bother me so much, cause if he went straight back to third, they turn a double play anyways and the inning is over regardless. Don bringing in Anderson to face the lefty right after when he is terrible against lefties and still had De La Cruz on the bench was another nail in the coffin here.
