Soler is a horrrrrrrrrrrrrrrible fielder. If he's not the DH, I'm not sure he warrants a roster spot. It's that bad.

That said, that salary for that production is steep.  If we can send them Avi back and a mid level prospect or 2 back, I'd do it.

Fortes has the same fWAR in way fewer plate appearances, although he does have a negative bWAR. Still, part of my worry is that they would get Perez and pair him with Stallings, which makes it pretty close to a lateral move, not even considering the $$$.

😂 That whole post was a joke. It initially starts off as part of my running joke with @Michael about moving Jazz back to short. But then since I was there I thought to make an outlandish post about Ohtani signing here. Which I know to be honest the Marlins have to be at best in the bottom 10 teams he would consider signing with next to like the Rockies and Pirates and A’s. But it was some fun light reading before the game starts. So why not have a couple minutes of fun imagining Shohei here and then go back to our reality of Stallings and Segura. 😂😂😂😂😂

Time to sell and trade Soler tbh. Starting pitching is too young/inexperienced/never pitched this many innings and the other holes (pen, 3b, ss, c) are too glaring

Time to buy some right-handed relievers that could improve the team. 

Trading Soler while in wildcard position is a move they can’t make unless if they want another PR hit. 

They should be buyers. 

Don’t have to get superstars, just get guys who can improve the obvious weak spots on the roster.

We haven’t had a real postseason in like 20 years, they better be buyers.

I agree, but there are no moves to make that are going to make them better than the Braves.  They should make moves, but not at a high cost.

I know they often don't seem to be worried about PR, but pulling the plug on a playoff team "because" would be a terrible move, even for them.

There have been basically two trades total around MLB. Third wild card is really making teams hold out until the last minute.

They should probably move the trade deadline to August 15/16, honestly.

No but that's not the realistic goal. Still can be a wild card team anyway and then get hot at the right time when we face them in the playoffs. Make it to October and anything can happen.

I agree, but it takes 2 to tango.  Unfortunately if the other teams think they're still in it (even if they aren't truly in it), they may not want to do a deal until they're "for sure" out of it

Yeah, or who knows, maybe another team knocks out the Braves before we get to them (if not facing them first round).

I know what you are saying, but the chances of that happening are low.  This isn't the 2003 team that was really good and just needed a few pieces.  We're starting to see more and more cracks, including the bullpen.

You can say this about 95 percent of the teams in baseball. Should everyone just sit and do nothing because the Braves look really dominant?
