Cabrera changeup is the same as his fastball it only drops down a couple mph.  That’s what’s holding him back along with the walls.  I’d trade him & prospects if possible.

Watson has just as much potential as Jazz  did with less pop but better contact.   He would sway the a deal if he was added with Cabrera and another mid level prospect.  Concerns with his character don’t outweigh his potential yet.  

I’m ok if they deal Max because he doesn’t have the frame to withstand so many innings. 
 

Edward change up is a very good pitch m8. It’s his command that’s this issue. Come on now

Yeah that’s mostly true.  Rogers concerns me because he doesn’t really dominate lefties like he should either.

Rogers had one "bad" month in 2021, which came in July when he had a 4.08 ERA in four starts. He then got hurt and didn't pitch in August, but posted a 3.52 ERA with a 4.67 K/BB ratio in five starts afterward. He also only gave up one home run during that span. That's solid stuff.

I mean yeah he obviously sucked wind in 2022, but he's 25, he's a lefty, he's club-controlled and he is just two years removed from an All-Star season. I think he has more value than you're giving him credit for.

he averaged roughly 4 1/3 or so innings per start from July-Oct in 21.  his July was horrendous.  it looks like they either sent him back down or he was injured for August as I'm not seeing any August stats for him that year and I don't remember what he was doing..and then he came back up once rosters expanded (which also likely led to the increase in K's overall since you have more kids getting their cup of coffee at that point) and he still couldn't even average 5 innings a start.  He hasn't been the good version of himself sicne that pre-allstar break in 21.  Stats do back it up.  I never said he doesn't have value.  he's still young-ish and a lefty so yeah, some teams would like to bring him in. i just don't see the value some of you continue to see in him - especially with how trash he was all last season.  He could be a very serviceable back end starter - certainly would rather see him pitching than Cueto or Hoeing for instance.  It's just annoying when people talk about Trevor and Cabrera like they're pretty good pitchers....and they just aren't.  Not yet anyway.  Maybe in the future, but for now?  pretty average dudes.

I think someone in his family nearly died. Believe he was on bereavement list expecting the worst.

Even if they don't get anyone of note - a "big" move for Bruce would be ok'ing Ng to release Avi for good so we can stop occasionally being reminded that he might be called back up and take up the roster spot of an actual valuable player.

I legit would be stoked if they flat out released him.  Granted, he'd probably sign with the Braves and suddenly hit .320 and ops .950 or something stupid because....well you know.

To be fair, wasn't that because they were limiting his innings (not sure if I remember that correctly)?

I'm not saying he's a pretty good pitcher right now, but he has shown he can be really good in the past and I absolutely think he can be good in the future. I don't think he has insane value, but I absolutely think there would be tons of teams willing to acquire him because he is still young and has good stuff (I am not advising the Marlins trade him, either; just saying I definitely think there would be significant interest if they decided to). I think he could be one of those guys the Marlins could potentially regret trading in that scenario.

I also don't necessarily think lumping him in with Cabrera is fair because Cabrera has no track record of ever being all that good on the MLB level, and his command is awful.

That would be awful especially cuz the holes are glaring, they can't even pretend to say this team is complete.

but i'll also almost be willing to bet most teams would offer more for Ed than Trevor based on his "stuff" 

 

i don't like or trust either one so i'm ok with one or the other being jettisoned for a player we desperately need to help move this team up a bit more.

if Bruce would simply allow Kim to eat the contracts of Cueto and Avi instead of forcing them on the roster that alone would be fairly significant tbh.

I believe Cueto’s contract is guaranteed money, he can be cut anytime which leads me to think it’s Kim’s call not Bruce. 

Here is the headline after Cueto was signed;  “Cueto brings flair to Marlins introduction.  Veteran righty proudly wears Dominican Republic flag.”   

This signing was more than a guy who could help but it also targets the community.  They want a brand not just a team.  Cueto isn’t going anywhere and it certainly doesn’t fall on Bruce.

I honestly don't think they're going to forcefully keep Cueto on the roster getting signicant, if any, time if he's as awful as we all think he'll be.  I don't care if he's from the D.R., Cuba, Puerto Rico, or Siberia.  Keeping this team on the winning path will bring in more fans and garner more support than letting Cueto pitch and get shelled.  They're smarter than that.  I believe he's going to have an extremely short leash in terms of how awful he'll be before the cut bait with him. 

They don't want losing as a brand so yeah, I think he'll be gone within a few weeks either outright released or down with a phantom injury.
