Most other teams in their right mind would have benched Segura by now with his numbers. The closest comparison I can make is Jonathan Villar in 2020. Of course that was a short season but before Villar was traded we all considered him one of the worst Marlins we had ever seen. Just for comparison. In 2020 in 116 AB Villar hit .259 2 HRs and 4 doubles. Not great. In 2023 Segura is hitting in 301 ABs, .219 with 3 HRs and 5 doubles. If Villar was traded for not being a good player then Segura should have been gone in May. Because right now trading Segura for Villar would be a big upgrade offensively. And that is saying something.

I personally would have liked to see happen. But looking like Anderson will stay with the Sox.
