Mark Buehrle, Marlins agree to 4 year/$58 million contract

Featured Replies

It's a little high, but it still makes more sense than the Bell deal.

The initial offers were apparent 3/36-39. So, we added a year + $1.5MM-$2.5MM per year. It's not a steal by any stretch, but that seems like a reasonably expected bump over the initial offers needed to bring him in.

This was the FA I wanted the most. We really need rotation help.

Same here. So glad we landed him...

Nobody works faster than Buehrle.. love watching the games he pitches in.

Before the signing: "The Marlins will never win with 2 good pitchers and great offense. They NEED pitching."

After the signing: "58 milion? lmao, overpaid for an old pitcher."

Is this what everyone is saying on MLBTR?

Man can ST start already? I feel like a kid in a candy store!

we didnt really overpay here. we knew he was going to get 13-14 million a year. we basically just gave the extra year which is better than 6 and more money for wilson.

For the record, Samson isn't confirming Buehrle. However, that is standard protocol to not confirm anything until the press conference.
