Ozzie Guillen

The Marlins will probably fire Cora so that Ozzie will quit so they won't have to pay him. So Marlins...

I really hate that Admin "Dr" Beinfest is not part of these firing speculations.

I hate this organization so much. It's a circus.

I'm sure when other fans and teams look at our organization and that monstrosity out in CF, the first thing that comes to mind is "professional."

Pretty smart too...

But yeah that Cora thing is news to me. Personally, everyone except Espada could go for all I care.

It's not that I like Espada. Just don't really feel like he deserves to lose his job.

I like the job Espada does at 3rd. Seems to have ha a few down moments this year, but I see no reason to get rid of him when he seems to be doing a respectable job.

From Capozzi's Blog:

"Manager Ozzie Guillen and some members of his coaching staff might have worked their last game for the Miami Marlins.

Owner Jeffrey Loria is getting pressure from his top baseball executives to fire Guillen because they believe he has brought an unprofessional culture to the Marlins, according to two people who have spoken with the front office.

what a joke.

they knew all about ozzie before they hired him.

ozzie didn't choose our logo to be a ridiculous rainbow M too big for its cap.

ozzie didn't have a giant laughingstock of a sculpture put in center field.

ozzie didn't ink the deal for showtime to follow the team around with cameras.

ozzie didn't sign heath bell for $27 million.

ozzie didn't go on the radio every week to discuss his favorite movies while the team was tanking.

there's an unprofessional culture alright, and it starts at the top.

Even though the majority of his points are stupid, I can't diasgree with the FO knowing why they am we're getting with Ozzie.

After seeing that go then stop call during the final game and hearing tommy and rich point out its not the first time it happened Im not a fan of Espada

Except Hutton and Waltz were talking about the fact that it was the runner's fault for not knowing what was going on in front of them.

Gork-man took about 4 full strides past 2B before he realized that the stop sign had gone up. That kind of stupid stuff isn't Espada's fault.

Baserunner needs to not look at the ball and look at the third base coach unless the ball is close to the infield and it's your judgment call [iE a blooper, that sort of thing].

Ah IDK.

“To me, that’s not who you want to represent the face of the organization,’’ one team source said

You could say "That’s not who you want to represent the organization."

Or, you could say "That’s not who you want to be the face of the organization."

You cannot say what he is quoted (probably accurately) as saying without coming off as a moron who can't string together a coherent sentence.

However, there are certainly a lot of good reasons to dump Guillan -- and getting him to quit would be the best possible outcome.

If the Cora ploy alone doesn't work, they could just make it informally understood that his life as manager will be utter hell if he stays. That firing Cora was just the first example of that, that he will have no input on personnel decisions, that his new bench coach will have the ability to overrule him, that they won't be spending any money on players until he's gone, etc., etc. So, Ozzie, do you really want to hang around and be the powerless manager of a crappy team racking up losses that also go on your managerial record?

Then perhaps they can make him an offer he can't refuse and negotiate a settlement at, say, 20 cents on the dollar if he goes away. If it works, they save 6 mill of the 7.5 they owe him.

They could use that to encourage someone to take Bell off our hands and we'd than have gotten rid of our three biggest problems -- Hanley, Guillan and Bell. No more overpaid prima donnas, no more circus.

well if I'm a "top exec" with the Marlins I'd probably be pointing my finger at everyone else but myself too after this debacle, knowing some heads are probably gonna roll. Sure, it's Ozzie's fault. I mean it's clear as day. And that unprofessionalism is why they won only 69 games, natch.

maybe the problem is with those "top execs" you keep listening to, who knows.

but the point here is that the Marlins were bad because santeria.

What's this Cora ploy you're talking about? Did something happen with Cora?

Also, it's funny that that's the attitude about Ozzie given How they celebrated his cursing on The Franchise by using a clicker to keep track of F Bombs.

Not everything is an absolute statement.

You can have bad players, a bad team, and an unprofessional manager and have them all correlate to why we were so bad, not just one. I dont think anybody in the front office is saying that we were bad only because of Ozzie Guillen. They are saying that the team was bad, but the culture brought to the team by Guillen's arrival certainly didnt help matters and that is why they want to replace him.

I don't practice Santeria. I ain't got no crystal ball.

Remember, Girardi had JJ in the Pen with Nolasco in the begining of the season.

(I belive Ricky was in there with JJ).

Girardi also sent JJ back into a game after a 2 hour rain delay, and pretty much caused the surgery that wiped out his following season.

Girardi set this franchise back 2 years by running JJ out after that rain delay. Also, his bullpen handling was bad. He was awful
