mrchainsaw
I wouldn't hate having him pitch here for a year. Gives the Nicolinos, DeSclafanis, Fernandez's, Heaneys, James's of the world more time to develop. Hopefully that rotator cuff injury from last year won't nag him. h2r09
we need starters for THIS year. give him a one year deal as a stop gap.
AeroFishOne
I have no problem with a one year. We are going to lose anyway. Atleast have some realistic nostalgia factor. Not Dontrelle.
Admin
Pavano is a low risk signing who could out produce his contract. Go for it
Sherman shill
hell, even in long relief from the pen...1 year and he'd come cheap...not a big risk but a decent possible reward in the short term
PhxPhin
i'd rather burn out his arm in a 50-60 win season than overwork one of the guys on the farm ....... sign him up and have him bring some of his friends
yokofox33
I'm all for it. But only if he gets back together with Alyssa Milano.
Hotcorner
Not sure what the point would be. Nolasco Turner Alvarez Eovaldi LeBlanc/whoever 2-3-4 we certainly want starting. So after Nolasco there's really only 1 spot available. I'd rather throw LeBlanc or Brad Hand out there and see if they amount to anything. Erick
The only reason why Pavano gets a minor deal is because he was injured last year. 2009-2011, he was actually a fine pitcher. A 4.36 ERA in the American League averaging ~33 starts/214 innings per year is not bad at all. It's funny that certain people who loved Mark Buehrle are probably going to hate it if we sign Pavano because it's the fun to thing to do at this time. Pending both stay healthy, they'd likely put up similar #'s next year; the major difference being that Buehrle is ridiculously overpaid. Boca Man
Every wash up wants to be a marlin. They know they will actually start on this sh*t team. And what fans are still here will agree, that is why loria do the things he do.

What about a 6 man rotation to protect the younger arms for this coming season? Nolasco Turner Alvarez [or Perez] Pavano Eovaldi LeBlanc/Hand/Whoever
Erick
LeBlanc would just go to the bullpen. It's mainly what he did last year. He's not a long-term piece; quite honestly, he didn't even do all that well as a starter last year. He's kinda not good. He's had a mediocre career as a starter despite pitching in two pitchers parks. He seems far better suited for a relief role + we could use the extra lefty in the pen. Or, you know, we could just trade Nolasco. That would be great!

Yeah if they sign Pavano/Nolasco stays, it would be Nolasco, Pavano and the three young guys.
