And media obsession with Puig I was about to post this. I don't see how he wins it over Puig. The hype for Puig is too much.
July 29, 201311 yr He's at 120 innings now, which I guess means he'll probably be shut down in the first week or so of September. The Cardinals are going to be in the playoff race so I wonder what they'll do with Miller. Miller's professional innings totals have gone from 104 1/3 to 139 2/3 to 150 1/3. Cardinals general manager John Mozeliak acknowledged Miller's workload concern, though it is unclear whether it would manifest as a hard innings limit.
July 29, 201311 yr Never been a fan of any pitcher getting ROY. Should go to a position player. But I do have to say that 8 innings and 13 Ks with under 100 pitches was a very nice and impressive outing.
July 29, 201311 yr Nobody this good this young since Doc Gooden No hurry to sign him long term but don't let him get away.

July 29, 201311 yr With a 24.5% k rate and .465 BABIP, I have an inkling Puig is do for some serious regression

The dude is awesome at pitching and awesome at life. That's a pretty rare combination, and he could easily become the most likable marlin of all time. If there is ever a player to rebuild the image of this franchise and get the fans back, he is it and the marlins need to show their commitment to him ASAP.
July 29, 201311 yr He's gonna win ROY. Book it. Hope so! Hopefully the club shutting him down early doesnt effect the vote.

Well, he's going to make a million for the next two years. And then arb for three years. Lincecum got 8, 13, 18 and 23 in two two year contracts that got him through arbitration. Last two years didn't work out for Giants. And he looks done. What would you offer JF?

Without looking at any comparable contracts and purely off the top of my head and at risk of being ridiculed on this board til the end of time, 8/80?

I would say, if 8-years, you're right around $70-$80 million. Right on that path IMO.
