July 31, 201412 yr Do we have confirmation that Moran is in this thing ? Yeah, trade confirmed. Marisnick, Moran, Martes, draft pick FOR Cosart, Hernandez, Wates
July 31, 201412 yr Pretty shitty fans on this forum sometimes.. Be shame if we start winning more and most of you hop on the Miami Marlins Bandwagon. I would expect this hate more from Heat fans to be honest, lol This is funny.
July 31, 201412 yr Hopefully they all turn into a Morris and suddenly be somewhat good. Or something. I don't know.
July 31, 201412 yr you guys are overrating our guys. Moran is never going to develop enough power and scouts have said recently he was bad defensively so they were going to have to move him to 1b and Marisnick flat out can't hit and we have 3 OF's already. Kike Hernandez seems to me to be pretty damn good and Cosart had a bad outing and is a ground ball pitcher that is now going to a great pitching park.
July 31, 201412 yr Damn then I can't even imagine what it would be like to completely give up hope.. Saying shit like "time to get swept"(not sure if this is trolling or not)... That's really what I'm referring to. We just won two series against the top teams in our division so saying stuff like is pretty irrelevant, no? Maybe the FO knows something we don't.. Let it play out before you cash in And this is an honest question because I legitimately want to know why some of you guys don't care for McGhee or want to see him back. I think he's a good hitter and fielder but I would like to see what you guys don't like..
July 31, 201412 yr Now that everything settle down. The deal isnt that bad. Its alright. Marisnick was barely playing here, so he literally had little usage. Moran is ehh, perhaps I overrated him a bit although he's young. Reading up on kike, I like him. Should be our new starting 2nd basemen. I also believe cossart is better than the numbers say. And it's not just my opinion but other baseball people opinion as well. All in all only time will tell.
July 31, 201412 yr Marisnick seems like another Maybin. All the tools but cant hit major league pitching. Moran is solid and I see him turning out like a left handed Chris Johnson if all goes well for him.

I think he's a good hitter and fielder but I would like to see what you guys don't like.. Agree 100%. Mcgehee is good but I am just worried lately. And that time to get to swept nonsense is ridiculous. I am very sure even die hard reds fans are saying the same thing about us. Stay confident.

Cosart has given up 19 runs in his last 21IP. Prior to that stretch he had a mid 3s era FWIW. I think Cosart is a fine long term 4/5 SP and easily better than Turner.
July 31, 201412 yr I'm just disappointed that we didn't get Price. Because, seriously, what an underwhelming return for one of the best pitchers in baseball. Were they high when they made that deal?
July 31, 201412 yr Hernandez seems interesting, and Cosart is an upgrade over whatever. So okay.... seems kinda weak though for our two best position players in the minors. I would like to have given Mars and Moran more time to develop. At this point (early) Cosart doesn't look fabulous so not thrilled, but he'll have a year or so to stick in the rotation here. and them falling in love with Casey is silly. He's been good this year and should be happy and they deserve credit for giving him a shot, but that is not suddenly a rock-solid area where you ditch your #1 pick who was supposed to be the heir apparent to 3B. What if McGehee comes out next year and hits .245 with no power again? Christ I could've sworn we just went through this with Matt Dominguez...
July 31, 201412 yr Cosart is a solid prospect with decent stuff already and I know why we traded for pitching. Low depth and uncertainty with Jose coming back from TJ. But Marisnick and one of the best 3B prospects in the game which has been a gaping hole on thos team for what seems like forever? I don't know. To sum it up, I'm really on the fence here. I guess the thought and hope is that McGehee really has revived his career and will be around producing like this for a few years more. And the hope is that with Hernandez we have filled the 2B hole. But I peg him as a B-type at best. And while I commend Casey for this year, I wouldn't bank on him producing like thks much longer because of age, etc. Again on the fence.
July 31, 201412 yr As someone noted, what's really scary is they actually think McGehee is a legit option at third (possibly long term)
July 31, 201412 yr Does kind of continue to hammer home how crappy a return the Marlins got in the blue jays deal
July 31, 201412 yr I'm just disappointed that we didn't get Price. Because, seriously, what an underwhelming return for one of the best pitchers in baseball. Were they high when they made that deal? I agree. When I heard Tigers. I thought to myself, "really, Tigers? Whatever" Price would have looked nice in orange and blue..
July 31, 201412 yr I think more than anything, we're afraid Moran will be amazing and then we're screwed. Plus the draft pick. If it was Cosart, Hernandez, Wates for Marisnick and Martes... Fine. Throwing in BOTH Moran and yet another damn draft pick seems like too much. If Moran bombs, then we can look back and feel better. But if Moran becomes a success, we probably got shafted unless one of our three acquisitions also breaks out.

Kike Hernandez seems to me to be pretty damn good and Cosart had a bad outing and is a ground ball pitcher that is now going to a great pitching park. I'm not really upset thinking we gave up future All Star prospects. I've been forthright with my opinion about Moran (the constant 1 for 4 games he has with no extra base hits drives me nuts) and I've said early on I thought Marisnick was all tools and nothing to back it up (he's better than I predicted), but the fact of the matter is Cosart isn't good. He gives up a lot of walks, his WHIP is bad this year, and he doesn't go all that deep into starts this season. Hernandez might actually be the most intriguing person we got in return, and that's only because he's gone crazy good at AAA after being not so great the rest of his minor league career. It's also been barely a year since drafting Moran, and he's actually been batting over .310+ since late May I believe, so he's shown he's always a slow starter followed by a hot finish. Giving up a top 3 prospect in the system in Moran and our only real insurance plan for when McGehee leaves in Moran, as well as Marisnick and a comp pick for a package centered around Cosart, who has performed like a #4 starter this season, just doesn't make sense. ESPECIALLY since our minor league system is prime with pitching prospects to trade away and our system is somewhat baron of decent hitting prospects. It just doesn't feel like a win trade. But then again we all felt like it was a "WIN" trade when we acquired Jacob Turner, Brian Flynn and Rob Brantly for Omar Infante and Anibal Sanchez, so our opinions aren't worth jack.
July 31, 201412 yr Like I said the front office needed to man up and get Price.. He is under control until 2015 and if it didn't work trade him then. But they tucked their balls back and made a mangina and played it safe.

He feels like more of a guy who will very very likely make the majors at the some point soon but never put up great numbers. He'll get a single just about every game he plays, but it'll have little impact on the game and that's all you're gonna get.
