I'm with Lorenzo on this one. Hendo might be a steal for the A's or he may throw one pitch and Tony Saunders away into oblivion.

It doesn't matter really.  The point is that with very few other options and our payroll already being so low, we should have taken a chance on a one year deal.  The money used on Mathis is a waste and could have been allocated for Hendo.

I really like Alvarez and am disappointed to see him go. But he was also frustrating, constantly being injured and the rumors of him pitching thrown partial tears of who-knows-what. When he was on the mound, he was reliable, but how often can you rely on him being on the mound? I can see why the Marlins non-tendered him and why the A's would take a flyer on him.

Hendy has been thrown high two-seam fastball. And he underwent an arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, so these situation seems to impact his pitching speed highly. Maybe rare chance to rehab clearly and see him on mound again.

I cannot believe it A's paid those much money.

That price is pretty standard for a pitcher with that kind of injury history. That's roughly what someone like Brett Anderson got a few years ago.
