Remember Ichiro pitched in a game last year ? I think that's the right time.

Ichiro would seriously do a better job than Dunn right now.

Oh ! that's great.

I think we potentially could get someone but the question is who is it and how bad do we want them. If we trade some of our best remaining prospects and get a you controllable 4th or 5th guy I am okay with that. I just don't want a old veteran expiring contract. Unfortunately I think the latter would be easier to get.

  • The Marlins’ acquisition of reliever Fernando Rodney earlier this week is part of the payoff in owner Jeffrey Loria’s long-term investment in the team’s infrastructure, details Peter Gammons of GammonsDaily.com. Loria installed a board of directors in the offseason when he named Mike Hill president of baseball operations and hired Don Mattingly as manager. Along with Loria, Hill and Mattingly, the Marlins’ decision-making board consists of several other higher-ups, each given a voice in the way the franchise operates. Loria also spent to improve the Marlins’ analytics department and beefed up their pro and amateur scouting budgets, per Gammons. In regards to his playoff-contending club, Loria told Gammons, “I can honestly say this is the best I’ve felt about the Marlins since 2003,” alluding to their second World Series-winning season. “There are times when I think this team is as good as that 2003 team, but now’s not the time for comparisons. Now is the time for very smart people to work hard to constantly make us better, and that includes the coaching staff Donnie has put together.”

So,"GOOD JOB" for Loria !?

I don't praise him for the Don Mattingly hire. But I like the Bonds, Benedict, and analytic personnel hires. I also like him being committed to Ichiro after a lackluster 2015.

Mattingly was a bad decision. So was the way he treated Jennings. And the fact that Mike Hill still has a job.

The bad sort of negates the good.

I don't know if praise is the right word but I think it's clear that so far Loria has stepped back and let his people do things the right way even if you don't necessarily like his people specifically. And for that I do commend Loria.

You say this like there were better options. Who would you have wanted as manager? Mattingly has his faults but so far he's done a heck of a job keeping this team on track when they could have spiraled off the tracks several times this season. Redmond and Jennings wouldn't have gotten out of this team what Mattingly has. Who else did u have in mind?

So no more something like "Pls. Loria sell this team",right ?

With Maddon, maybe we won 55 games now.

Marlins and brewers almost made a deal.

Marlins wanted Jeremy jeffress

Brewers wanted paddock plus two more prospects.

Marlins said nah dawg of. This accrd to gammons

So we traded Paddack straight up for Rodney who's better than Jeffress. We genius.

A manager doesn't make that big of a difference.

We have the same exact team as last year. Very different spot in the standings. All we changed was our coaching staff.

Quite a few players broke out this year. We didn't have 5 players hitting over .300 last year, and Mattingly didn't cause that.

Not even close to the same team last year. Jose is here. Stanton is here. Yelich has been healthy all year. The bullpen has been upgraded. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Not to mention that we don't have 865 injuries this year. This team is so far ahead of last year's that you would need the Hubble Telescope to see the 2015 squad. And even then they'd just be a tiny speck.

Hey ARod is taking grounders at first base over the all-star break. Give up nothing for ARod and Sabathia. Buy out Sabathia next year and hope ARod retires.  :)
