He's not a CF, though.

Yeah, Meadows is most decidedly not a center fielder.

Eh, think I'd trust our current group over him. However if it was a minor league deal, sure!

some orgnaizations say they want to compete and make moves to show their fan base they are serious.

Others just talk the talk.

I mean to be fair, writers are just itching to write something negative about the Marlins.

they could be in the World Series and they’d mention the rebuild and fire sales and how the team will be sold off in a few days.

I said many times, this team need to do something to earn the respects from the baseball world and obviously they're not yet.

Yes but I think his point is that the Marlins could win 100 games and sweep the World Series and some of the headlines would still be "Lowly Marlins somehow win the WS, is a fire sale near?"

This isnt even about writers writing stories though.

This is about actually making moves indictive of wanting to win as many baseball games as possible.

So change the narrative and make the Jayson Werth acquisition. The Tigers are probably not a contender but they are making moves to help their kids develop. The Rangers suck and spend $500m on two guys. Overpaid them for sure.

The Marlins absolutely did this with Soler, Garcia, Wendle, Stallings, Sulser, and Scott, however you don't just stop there. You finish the job with a CF. They have money, 5 universal top 100 prospects, and 4 more on some lists/just on outside. Controlled for years all over. There is just no argument one can make and if you gotta overpay for Reynolds... do it because someone else will and they will beat you because they want to win.

I don't disagree about the latter point.  They need to make another move.

I'm just saying, the Marlins could've made the same move, and that line of "the Marlins, which really want to compete this year" wouldn't have been in there.

Correct.

So much for being a "file and trial" team. Maybe those dumb days are over, never understood the policy anyway.

That was the previous front office and the thought that this new FO was doing it too was silly as that's not something ever set in stone. I remember Scoop talking about this and it was dumb.

Until some Marlins owner proves that the same cheapo Marlins is wrong they are being very fair in their assessment.

If they win 100 games and sweep the WS that's a fair assessment? I get it but his point was that they could prove everyone wrong and still go with the same narrative.
