Not at all man, this is the team the team they’re going into the season with.

I actually do get the thinking on how they value the bullpen...not that I fully agree...

...but centerfield is mind blowing.

Our bullpen is fine, assuming we don't have Donnie's "bullpen games" twice a week.  We never should've had them before, with the pitchers we have.

You can't wreck the bullpen twice a week, the wonder why they can't perform the rest of the week.

Honestly, I think the CF situation is currently more fine than the bullpen situation.

Considering Floro is injured and none of the SP prospects are headed to the bullpen to begin the year, we’re going to need somebody to emerge.

Two things

1 - Saying a dumpster fire is smaller than a tire fire is missing the issue (jokes)

2 - What's the opening day bullpen right now?

Bender, Bleier, Pop, Bass, Okert, Head..... and
-Armstrong - looks like he'll be added
-Poteet, i.e. "the longman".....
-Guenther as the extra April arm to get another lefty

Assuming that is true, put me down for CF being a larger fire.

The group above is missing 2-3 improvements (Floro, Cabrera, maybe a luxury veteran upgrade or going straight to Meyer), but I have no problem with those naturally occurring in a few weeks. They have those guys to insert whenever. Bender, Bleier, Pop, and likely Okert and Head are fine. Bass should be better, even if still just "fine" and Poteet is a fine option for a longman. No idea about Armstrong or Guenther. This group is likely uninspiring, but wouldn't be a bottom 5 unit. Maybe not much more though. I see a very large turnover coming fast as they can't keep all these arms in AAA when they are ready.

The issue of CF is, you are subjecting guys who shouldn't be out there to injury (especially Sanchez who the beat writers even acknowledged), and the net result is you are lowering your potential at 3B, LF, and RF (moving Anderson/Soler moving around) to play this dumb defensive alignment. Not having a real CF makes four position worse how I see it and unlike the bullpen, no help is coming unless someone can point to Burdick/Bleday playing a good CF in June. Reynolds might be worth 6+ WAR to this team just for getting that extra production in a trickle down which has to be a win or two. It's infuriating.

I really hope to eat some crow though and Sanchez (elite OF jumps and above average running speed to make up ground) and Garcia (above average CF ratings over 400 innings 2020/2021) can do it. There are some glimmers of hope those guys can be reasonably below average (which is what Reynolds/Mullins are). If they can do that, it may mask the issue until the summer when they just need to upgrade to a contender hopefully.

I will give you that the bullpen not being used for entire games twice a week will definitely help.

Still think it needs to be better and isn't ... that good.

I sincerely hope you end up being correct, though, Lou. This is an area I'd love to be flat out wrong.

How's the sharpening of the pitchforks going for all you folks btw?

No way! Think of all the prospects this team is going to get for Wendle, Cooper, Aguilar, and Okert...

The Tide is Coming in 2024!

The bullpen is fine.... especially now that they bought real cheap with Sulser and Scott

Nope, had to be bullpen as it was, you lose 10 points.

[I'm joking, definitely happy with that upgrade]

Sulser and Scott had 1.9 WAR last year, and are projecting depending on the platform 1-1.5 WAR (combined), with upside. Considering this is replacing effectively 100+ IP from guys like Head, Armstrong, and Poteet, this is a decent upgrade. It's probably a win.

Also I want to note the Comp B pick being traded probably decreases their bottom line $750k+ versus rostering two club controlled players. That pick is probably like a $1,250,00 slot or something, and Scott is making like $400k+ over club controlled prices... so that are saving that difference.

This seems like the perfect win-win for them - upgrading the team and saving close to a million bucks.

Now get a CF. And a good one.

Ok I stand corrected and wish to be proven even further wrong

I'd check in with the Sox on availability of Andrew Vaughn now that Lynn is out for a while. Something there with Pablo? I know he's not a CF but would be a good piece to build the offense around... especially if you can still land a CF later

Think Vaughn just got hurt too.

Pablo (and Bleday) for Robert.

I'd trade just about anything for Robert.. never gonna happen tho lol. Could be AL MVP this year.

Per sources, the Marlins are very close to a deal with super utility man Johnny Sins.  He can play any position on the field except catcher.

This is annoying. Is he just blowing smoke up our asses or are the Marlins still trying to acquire a CF?

I'd imagine they haven't stopped looking but that could also mean just getting someone more reliable as a backup to Sanchez because that's the one really vacant role right now. Nobody wants Sanchez to be the CF but he's it right now while there is virtually no one to be the 4th OF.
