Ng used to working for the high payroll organizations to bully the low payroll organizations, hope she's already adapt to working for the low payroll organization and bullied by those high payroll organizations …

I thought Wallach was still in the organization, where did he go?

He's with the Angels, and I misspoke, I guess he was outrighted to AAA in their organization.

So if the Marlins would have the low payroll forever, what's the root of the problem ?

We're just bad luck to have all the stingy owners or it's because the people of Miami and Florida just not support the professional sports ?

It seems all the major professional sports teams in the Florida have the issue of the low attendance number and have the argument that Miami is not a baseball town.

If South Florida is really not a good place for the professional baseball then we would only see the vicious circle happened here, people continue to not support the team and the team continue to not spend the money …

this off-season ?

Doesn't really matter when it happens IMO, as long as it happens. That's great that he says 90 percent chance though, especially with how pessimistic Mish has been as of late.

The same factors its been for years:

1) Terrible team for years/decades......Miami supports winners; Marlins haven't been close to winning anything in forever.

2) Reputation of the team - people have been burned by firesales enough, and have no faith that supporting the team will pay off long term.  This group hasn't proven they're going to do what it takes to spend/build a team worth watching either, so....

3) Stadium location - I'm glad we have the ballpark and keeping the team, but the ballpark location sucks as far as getting people to want to go and hang around.   It's annoying to get to with the neighborhood streets.....especially if there's any sort of actual crowd (without crowds its OK, but traffic is BAD with a crowd)......and given it's in a neighborhood, there's nothing around as far as restaurants or bars or whatever to encourage people to come to the area or hang out in the area after......There has been a few buildings being built in surrounding areas over the last 5 years, but it hasn't fully gotten to the immediate stadium area......we'll see if that happens.

The Panthers are spending 80M this year, and are winning, and have tons of fans going to games from what I see on TV, so it's not like the market doesn't have fans for teams.

Well that seems like a positive reversal from his recent comments, no?

Never says spend, period.

To be fair, we don't hear much from him at all.

I don’t understand the buxton interest at all. He’s not controllable long term, and even the trade and extend scenario is dumb because I feel like for that you would have just extended Marte last season but they didn’t. Sure Buxton has a high ceiling but other than last season he’s never come close to it and his floor is pretty damn low. So on average you want Marte-esque production from him so what’s the point?

I agree with you - it's never made sense to me, but a lot of people seem to really like the idea.  Guess at this point it's a "safeguard" against losing a FA bidding war for Marte?  (Ignoring the extension opportunity last year, of course).

I'm not arguing that!

Regardless, I hope they figure something out.......this team needs to make moves just to get even with where we were last year with Marte, and there were holes as it was then, they obviously need to go above and beyond that to fill those holes.

Buxton is too injury-prone for my liking. This FO just seems to love taking the high-risk gamble for the sake of possibly hitting the lotto on an all-star player. What happens when Buxton goes out for most of the season and they have no backup besides maybe DLC and Brinson again? They get stuck in the same whole as last season.

Buxton is going to cost an impressive prospect haul.

Buxton will cost a lot in an extension.

Buxton has played a full season once in 7 years.

Its a gamble I'm not really sure the Marlins need to be making, given all the other gigantic holes they have in their lineup.
