@marlins_09, I am too lazy to go back and quote your post so here's the reply:

I understand it is only a couple weeks in, but that feels like the same crap I've been hearing ever since this regime took over. "Trust the process", "be patient", "soon it will happen"

Are you and other fans who think that way going to just tell us in a month it has only been 2 months? When do the people ok with moving the goalposts get tired of moving them? I'd be happy to admit I was wrong if they end up doing productive useful things. But I just don't see that happening.

Somehow other teams who want to maybe become winners are managing to conduct business. All while we get Head and nothing else thus far.

Yeah. "Well, we still control him." The hell?

I hope that just means "we don't have to worry about him leaving soon if we don't get this deal done ASAP and we have some time to hammer it out" and it was just worded abysmally.

But certainly very upsetting.

Yeah fingers crossed.   Also making other moves may make him more likely/eager to sign an extension.

"Marlins offered a lowball, three-year deal in the $30-39MM range prior to trading him — and with a number of recent free agents commanding premium salaries through age-36, we pegged him for a four-year deal at a total of $80MM."

Jeter completely mis reads the market and uses the 'we tried' excuse before trading him earlier this summer.

Real genius.

Guaranteed the contract offer was leaked by ownership.

You want to win, you need a best team.

You want the good attendance number, you need a best team.

Simple and clear.

Yep.

It's like investing. You're not going to make money unless you put in money.

I'd rather "cry" than get kicked around and ask for more like some pushovers in the fanbase.

You're going to cry AND get kicked around, so it's not like this moaning on a message board is going to do anything but elevate your blood pressure.

It's just funny that people are complaining about the Marlins not doing anything in an off-season that hasn't ended.

@Entendu, you're either not really care about this team or you're just the most patient people in the world.

I'm going to push back here.  You're right they didn't just begin their time here, but to get out the pitchforks because they haven't signed a FA yet so early in the offseason is premature.  I agree, they should've wrapped up the Sandy extension already as a sign that things are different, not only to our fans, but also to FAs/the league.

If this offseason passes by and they continue the "we tried" and sign just "scrap heap" FAs, don't extend guys, and/or don't make notable trades, I'll line up with you to complain and not care anymore.  I've said quite a few times during last season that they have this offseason to prove that they're going to be different - the offseason stretches from the last pitch of the WS to opening of ST, so I'm willing to give them that amount of time.

It's not time to get out the pitchforks and start marching, but you are a fool if you aren't already starting to sharpen yours.

I went from being called a homer and an eternal optimist to whatever I am now.

I've only known you as @SonOfJack. Was @Homer your previous profile name?

I need to read up on those guys before commenting on this idea.

Well, from what I have heard, if a trade is going to happen with the Yankees (whether with the Marlins or not), it will happen today before the deadline to add players to the 40 man roster.

Damn, let me read fast then. Thanks

BTW who is that guy? His bio says national writer for Forbes, but only 11 followers? That'd be unique.

It actually said he was featured in Forbes rather than being a Forbes writer. Anyway, he seems to be new on the scene so I would take anything he says as a grain of salt. Anyway, the fact that the Yankees are trying to make a trade by today was already reported by trustworthy sources so it adds up. We shall see.

He did also say this,

Which is a little bold...

See, this is why I failed my attention to detail course. I told you I was reading fast this morning.

Unless I suck at googling, there's no such thing as Forbes “Top Young Baseball Writers of 2021".

Seems like a topic Forbes would never do anyway.

This rumor may be nothing more than a guy having a laugh.

I am going to chalk this up as probably a troll fan until his some of his predictions come true.

I don't think they're trading Pablo for the Yankees #9 and #12 prospects...
