Seriously, this is why the leader of each team should be one of its best players. I can never understand the Udonis Haslems or even Miguel Rojases.... Like holy shit I wouldn't get up on a soapbox and attempt to set standards when I'm not setting standards on the field as a top player.

It's why I have no affection for Rojas unlike the way I did for players like Uggla or Pudge. I think his impact is overblown and we could do without him.

For what it's worth, I think Jazz is a massive headache waiting to happen. He's too loose and clown-ish, but I don't think there's anyone on this team that has the right to set a standard for him.

The fact that Cooper, who seems to normally be pretty taciturn, rocked a Drill Ya Mama shirt to support Jazz speaks volumes to me that they don't really see Jazz as a headache waiting to happen, clown, unprofessional, etc.  Also same with Bleier, who isn't even in the dugout with him most games since he sits out there in the bullpen.  Only time will tell.

 

Also, in regard to Miggy...when he came over here with Don (basically) he busted his ass HARD to make himself in a very serviceable ballplayer who (and still does) play outstanding defense.  He busted his ass to get his bat to the point where it was not a liability in games.  With that kind of work ethic, it's not hard to see why he also became captain.  Just because you're the best player doesn't mean you should be captain either.  Some guys genuinely do NOT want that role and prefer to just do their thing and that's totally fine.

I had the same thought. The media probably assumes it was about Jazz.

although apparently, if what he said is accurate, it's not just Miggy - it's several elder players that took umbrage. 

So apparently Miggy Ro disputes Craig's report on the clubhouse meeting. 

I'm so sick of this already. 

Miggy has never been an asshole, Jazz has reacted positively with smiles and good play, not once showing any sign of being upset at whatever happened, Donnie had good intentions, even Kim Ng found a way to squeeze time to be in that meeting.

Yet the media is just spinning everything as if the whole clubhouse has a dark cloud over it. The true headline is probably "Marlins talked over a disagreement like normal adults, moved on peacefully" 

We don't know anymore details but whatever it was was likely a family like disagreement but they're all adults and moved on. It's not a dark cloud. Can't wait until this shit is dropped from the public attention already.

Craig Mish is awfully quiet ever since MiggyRo went on Twitter last night.

Mish has been doing this since last year, revealing “private” conversations that probably didn’t even take place to begin with. He pretends to be cool with the players, but there’s no way the players like him at this point. Imagine being a player and you trust this guy with information, yet he rats you out to fans every time pretty much.

The fans like Mish because he’s like TMZ but what he does isn’t cool. 

He also doesn’t even really work for the team anymore. He said in that same interview that he attends more games these days as a fan. 

It was funny how he said in the interview that he’s not the type of guy to make it about himself when that’s what he always does.

I get what you're saying, but busting your ass hard doesn't mean much when the results are lackluster. You can respect how hard someone works, but not respect their authority with regards to performance and team atmosphere. It isn't about the best player being the leader, it's more about the leader having legitimacy. I think legitimacy should come from your results, not how hard you try.

And about Jazz, I don't think no-nonsense guys being friends with him means much either. You can be friends with individual people who may not agree with the way you comport yourself. I think him complaining about not playing is more of an indication, the "drill yo mama" thing, etc. I'm almost certain of it. He's going to be a headache. That doesn't mean I don't want him on my team, though.

There's really no indication this was anything about Jazz, yet everyone here is assuming it is.

Sounds like the whole thing is blown out of proportion and this discussion is not doing it any favors.
