Do teams always know what other teams have offered? I don't think so. 

The offer to Turner was said to be competitive. Maybe Turner heard the Marlins offer, said he'd get back to them, then heard the Boston offer and just went with that without letting the Marlins know what the offer would be cuz he'd rather play with Boston anyways. So in scenarios like that, you don't always get a chance to beat other offers. Free agency is a two way street.

How do we not know this?  they did it with Marte.  Their final offer to him would've gotten it done if their first offer was closer to it.

And sure the latter part is true, but if Bruce ok's 3/$30, and Kim starts the negotiations at 3/$3, that doesn't do much good.

It's just frustrating to see nothing happening.

The issues this offseason are also domino effects of 2 offseasons ago when they refused to do anything like trying to sign JT. Sign him then and you don't need to trade for Stallings, AND you have a major bat in the lineup already. Fast forward to last year, sign Correa, and bam, you now have 2 big bats in the lineup, fast forward to this year and you can get away with signing just secondary guys.....you wouldn't be having to change out half of your lineup at once because you'd have already been building over the previous years.

You'd be at the point where you're adding the decorations and candles to the icing on the cake. Instead, we're still stuck baking the cake.

Pablo is a very good #2.  His ERA is a little inflated because he had a couple of rough games against the Mets.  His ERA aside, which isn't even bad, the rest of his body of work is very good.  

Sixto, from all accounts, is ready to go in spring training.  It takes 2 years to fully recover from shoulder surgery. It's not like TJ surgery.  If healthy, there's no reason to believe he's forgotten how to pitch.  There may be some rust but that can be worked out in the pen. 

Cabrera and Luzardo have had some injuries.  Name a pitcher who hasn't.  There aren't many.  That's the whole point of having depth.  It's there when injuries occur.  

Eury and Dax aren't your typicall prospects. Especially Eury!  They've both had success in AA already at a young age.  Nothing is a given but with the way we develop pitchers, I'd say they're safe bets.  

What you failed to mention is the success they've all had at the MLB level when healthy.  They have all been, not just good, but flat out dominant. 

We have a plethora of pitching and in a day and age when you're paying 30 Million a year for stud pitchers, many orgs should be envious of our pitching depth.  

Look, I get it that we are down on this owner and this FO , and rightfully so. But the pitching depth and the quality of that depth is something they've gotten right.  We don't need to pile on this team just to spite them because we don't like the owner and GM.

And you're welcome to feel that way but you also said largely the same thing about the farm prior to last season starting and didn't want to "mortgage the future" on certain trades and then once again, the guys who came up...were awful and they should have traded them to bolster the big league team prior to the season starting.

I know you're saying comparing Koehler to Trevor isn't fair but ALL that matters are results and Trevor has been pretty trash for 3/4 of his career now.  He was a complete disaster all of last season and if not for his great first half of his rookie year - would have had pretty craptastic stats that season as well (his first half was just that good).  The best comparable for him is Conley who also flashed for a brief stint during his first real season and then was putrid the rest of his time here. 

Pablo is OK being a #2 pitcher but he's not an upper echelon #2. He's a very good #3.  I honestly think Luzardo will surpass him this year (if he can stay healthy) as his stuff is much better than Pablo's.  Pablo regressed a fair amount last season after that scorching hot start.  Again, he's definitely a starting rotation caliber MLB pitcher on any rotation but he's a strong 3 or average #2 guy on a decent rotation.

Except Kim cant offer more money than Sherman has authorized her to spend, so it may seem shockeningly low (probably are), but its not like she can just go and offer 2x more than Bruce will pay only to goto him later and say, hey I"ve got x ready to sign, but I already offered y....

Slim. He is pocketing revenue sharing, tv rights, naming rights. He will enjoy that easy money as long as MLB allows him to.

Heavens no.

The Marlins are probably going to make some stupid signing in the next coming days folks.

With all this negative publicity, Bruce will be forced to make a signing.

 

Its going to be bad and awful, so be prepared for another corner outfielder to take the money ala Soler.

 

Then Sherman can go out and say, we are spending money to try to make the team better, doing it late in the game basically after being  criticized and all the free agents that actually fit the roster better are already signed, but by god we spent money!

 

Just prepping all of you folks for what is on the imminent horizon I believe.
