Use whatever guidelines you want here. Personally I'm grading them based on expectations as well as performance, which is why there's a bunch of C minuses instead of all F's for a historically bad team (for example I didn't expect much from JP and Solano so I don't give them F's... they played about how I figured they would). I'm taking defense and experience into account too (giving rookies a bit of a break). I'll cap this at 100 plate appearances .

"Hechavarria," ya dinguses.

Why are Pierre's grades so good? Shouldn't he get an F or a G.

He provided some value and for the most part did what he came here to do. He hit .273 as a pinch hitter with 12 hits off the bench and only K'd 3 times in those 44 ab's, that's a big success. Stole 23 bases in part-time duty, that's a success. Overall as a backup 4th/5th OFer he did OK.

I'm often reminded that there is no such thing as a C student, they are either A students that underachieve or F students that overachieve, that's what I see while handing out grades. Anyone else not listed is either Incomplete or an F!

That literally happened to me.

don't really want to do whole list, just Hechavarria F worst player in baseball, thought anything better of a grade to the worst player in baseball this year was unfair to all the players who were not the worst player in baseball. Coghlan was better than Hech, even though expectations were higher, coggs hit some, and did not get the distinction of worst player in baseball.

I think Mathis deserves a good grade in context. The pitching staff really benefited from having him there.

As far as the lineup is concerned, only Stanton and Yellich deserve good grades outright, though I think Ozuna did well considering he was at least a year early.

The pitching was pretty good all around. I think a full year with Fernandez, Alvarez, Eovaldi and Turner in the rotation will only look better.

I think Mathis deserves a good grade in context. The pitching staff really benefited from having him there.

That could be true, but it could also not be true. It could just be that the pitchers are good.

Hech had the worst WAR for a qualified player since 2009. Good job Adeiny!

Looks like Juan Rodriguez has joined the clan of people who think he's actually useful

Agreed.

And if it wasn't for that aspect of his game, he would have easily been an "F" player. The ONLY reason I graded him higher than that was for defense and game calling. Dude couldn't even sniff .200, that's horrible.

Ladies and gentlemen, it seems we have our own Yuniesky Betancourt!

That's exactly who Adeiny is. I've actually thought of that myself many times before. The comparison is perfect.

It's both. They are good, and they benefited from having him here.

Why even bother grading them individually

We have the makings of a very good starting rotation with an amazing young ace and a solid bullpen with a shutdown closer

We may have a solid young outfield, besides that, well anything else, is not really worth mentioning
