2016 Trade Deadline Thread

Featured Replies

So the trade ends up as Naylor, Cosart, and Capps for two months of Cashner, a dime-a-dozen reliever, and money. This actually makes the trade worse, I think. Rea, while not a top of the rotation guy, could have been a solid 4th starter under team control for a while.

Rumor that we might do Castillo for Ivan Nova from the Yankees.

I wish we had more to dangle with Castillo to get Quintana from ChiSox....damn this organization for years of lack of prospect depth

Wonder if the Phillies come down in price for Hellickson...it's stupid for the Phillies to keep him when Jake Thompson is ready to come up

Couldn't they technically say the same thing about the Rodney deal? Paddack had to get TJ not long after that trade too. I bet these two teams won't be making deals in the near future.

Perhaps there was something that only came up later.

This could have all been avoided if Preller had uttered the magic words: no tradebacks. He got owned by Mike Hill, the superior general manager

Jay Bruce to the Mets for Brandon Nimmo and two low level prospects. Thats not that much for Bruce honestly.

Considering Bruce also has a friendly team option for $13 million. Fuck.

Jay Bruce is overrated

Colin Rea was garbage to like half this board but then we got rid of him and got Castillo back and all of a sudden Colin Rea is a solid, long term #4 starter.

What y'all think of Ivan Nova.

He gets a lot of ground balls. That's all I've got.

i preferred Rea over Cashner simply because Cashner is a rental barring some freak announcement that we've signed him to a deal now.  The trade looks even more atrocious now with Capps (who when healthy would EASILY net someone much more valuable than Cashner on his own) plus Naylor and Cosart (who is still pretty damn young in his own right despite seemingly being around forever).  But whatever, nothing we can about it other than bitch and moan.

I'm just hung up on the fact we asked for cash back because that just means we had to give up more.  Still pretty sure that we sold Capps outright for 2mil when everything in the trade is looked at and then the Padres will probably flip him next year at the deadline for some stud prospect.

It would be a rental because he has 4+M this year and then free agent.  And no discussion on trade rumor as to any team named.  ERA under 5, lol, so is that good or bad when you are talking AL?  BUT we need someone, right?
