Why would the A's want Ramos? They need outfielders so maybe Ozuna but that won't get Gray.

 

That wouldn't get Gray?  I would think that wouldn't get Ozuna.  Gray might be broken down and coming off a terrible season. Yes, Gray has upside but I would want someone that's more of a sure thing than Gray to give up Ozuna for.  That's just me though.

The idea is to go with the royals formula. A bullpen of chapman Ramos barraclough phelps is pretty sick. The royals won that World Series with good position players and a nasty pen. Their starters weren't very good.

The royals had a much better staff than what you have in Miami.

It's encouraging to see Loria upping payroll to possibly $115M, didn't expect it and I know its extremely easy to be cynical about why he's doing it and if he will do it, and if so will he do it wisely and of course why bother the team sucks without Jose and has no hope, but damn to root for this team I want it to be competitive, with some semblance of a realistic shot at post-season ball.   

 

Jansen or Chapman would be great, absent an arm blowout they're sure things to close out games with dominant track records. Wouldn't it be nice if we were the team having one for a change (don't mention the Capps give away, makes me sick). Wouldn't mind a KC type bullpen to shorten the game added to the guys we already have. But do this as long as the team adds at least one more decent starter, one of Hammel, Fister or Gray. Tyson Ross in addition deserves a look if Loria really wants to roll the dice big time.

 

I don't care if they unload Ozuna as long as a proven 2/3 starter is coming back, but honestly don't see this happening and its hard to trust this front office to ensure it happens since they've proven to be royal fuckups. But whatever.

 

I'm just as concerned about the miserable job this team did in producing runs from all the baserunners we had. We ended up sucking and blowing a winning record primarily for that reason. If Stanton doesn't have a monster year and stay healthy, we're fucked anyway.

I completely believe you on this.  Also, I realize that the comparison between Jose and Aroldis are tough to make beyond exceptional talent but you all know as well as me that every five days when Jose pitched the stadium was usually rocking.  I believe that if the the team does sign Aroldis there is an argument to be made that there is a small percentage of those people that would come out to most every game to see him potentially pitch. I don't think he pays for himself but people pay to see players like Aroldis.

 

 

Personally, I'm hoping Marlins go crazy and sign both Jansen and Chapman and convert Chapman to a SP to fill Jose void.
