June 12, 20188 yr I don't think anyone is arguing his defensive prowess. But even if you're the defensive GOAT a team is going to need you to hit north of the mendoza line to warrant having you as anything more than a late inning defensive sub. I understand all of that. I just made that comment because recent posts were saying his offensive struggles were leaking into his defense.
June 12, 20188 yr 2 hits and no K’s tonight in 4 AB’s Including a 420 foot triple He needs a lot more nights like tonight
June 12, 20188 yr Brinson is 4th out of all MLB outfielders in Defensive Runs Saved. Fitting since his ceiling now is apparently just being a 4th outfielder.
June 12, 20188 yr Fitting since his ceiling now is apparently just being a 4th outfielder. if he doesn't get his average up at least 80 points or so...yep I don't think he'll hit this poorly the rest of his career but I have my doubts he'll be able to hit even .250 consistently. Stranger things have happened though. I do appreciate he has easy power and the ball, when he actually squares up the pitch, seems to just fly off the bat. I keep waiting for something to come out stating he realizes he needs contacts/glasses, etc. because I saw him just flail at some stuff that G wouldn't have even swung at during the worst of his slumps. I just don't like that the Marlins have run him out there when he clearly wasn't ready (also costing a year of service time) because repeated failures like his adventures at the plate can cause irreparable damage to some folks mental approach.
June 12, 20188 yr He has a BABIP of .190 and is pulling everything. He is producing a lot of soft contact. and is producing so so so many ground balls. There was a fangraphs article talking about him turning into a flyball hitter. His natural athleticism is being undermined by his high groundball rate. Honestly I can't watch him play without envisioning a super star. He has hit 10 home runs while only making contact to 66% of all balls he swings at. It's unreal levels of power.
June 12, 20188 yr Author I think Brinson will be fine, but I don’t like how they’ve developed him. I don’t want to watch JB Shuck play a game per series either.
June 13, 20188 yr Granted we have only played games through 12 days in June but Brinson has been playing above the levels we saw during the first two months of the season. Progress! Note: it’s only 32 plate appearances for June compared to about 100 each for the other two months. But still it’s a bump up

I knew eventually the splits would make him look good.
June 16, 20188 yr nice, hope to see this upward trend continue and get him over the mendoza line for good.
June 19, 20188 yr In June : 15-for-50 (.300) Possessed. The misplay on a pop up was a little laughable but he seems like he is making adjustments at the plate and playing angry. Love the emotion after the hit in 9th after being brushed back. I just hope SF doesn’t get tacky and bean him tonight

Dude's a nutcase who can't handle failure.
June 19, 20188 yr I wasn't watching but didn't they say Strickland stared down Brinson as he was walking off the field? What an idiot.
June 19, 20188 yr Brinson took some chin music from Strickland and then got his hit off him and shouted something at Strickland as he was running up to first while flinging his bat. Stickland didn't like that so there was some eyeballin' going on between the two of them. It was all just a byproduct of competitive juices flowing.

Lol
June 20, 20188 yr There's the retaliation.... fucking assholes That's a pretty rough way to retaliate. And did they actually do that on the field? That's pretty gross.
June 20, 20188 yr That's a pretty rough way to retaliate. And did they actually do that on the field? That's pretty gross. as long that aren't hairy they're good to go
June 20, 20188 yr as long that aren't hairy they're good to go Can assholes even be hairy? I get the cheeks, but the actual anus? That's weird
June 20, 20188 yr Can assholes even be hairy? I get the cheeks, but the actual anus? That's weird oh hell yeah obviously u haven't been with a french chick
June 20, 20188 yr Now Mark Melancon made a comment about Brinson "disrespecting the game"... this is ridiculous. Nobody on the Giants remembers that Strickland brushed back Brinson on the first pitch? Then Brinson, a guy who's struggled all year long, gets a game tying single in the 9th inning... why wouldn't he get pumped up in that situation? Nothing there is disrespectful to the game nor is he showing anyone up. There's a difference between being disrespectful and showing some fire in big situations and I don't think I've ever seen a situation more clearly defined that has been flipped so stupidly by the other side.
