Because this team is run by cheap and incompetent people who literally have zero clue on what it takes to build a lineup and consistently overvaluate their own trash while thinking they can pull a fast one on another GM. Hence why they almost NEVER do anything

Yeah, CF and SS should've been the priority for upgrades.

Maybe Kim should work for an intelligence agency with how much monitoring she does.

Nothing wrong with trying someone new at the job - she was highly regarded. The primary issue is noticing that when your employee is inept you fire them accordingly.

Well it's the only thing getting reported on, so right now it seems like the only thing in motion. I find it hard to believe there would be no whispers of anything else if anything else was actually occurring. There has been nothing.

If Pablo is being actively shopped, someone somewhere leaks. If you're talking to two, three teams, someone down the chain will tell someone. We can only assume she's sitting on her ass. No one who tries to do anything can yield such ineffectual results.

The only prospect the Marlins have that is a known commodity and has no injury concerns that would interest the Pirates is Eury Perez.

Pretty much all the other prospects have injury concerns attached and/or havent really been seen since suffering said injury.

A guy like Pablo Lopez isnt going to be a guy moved for Brian Reynolds due to the years of control left.

Maybe a Luzardo? 

It might be hard pressed for the Marlins to put together a package for Reynolds without Eury Perez IMO.

Come on man.  I get we're all frustrated, but this is a poor take on it.

 

Other first-time (and therefore cheaper vs. a vet) GMs have made moves/had success.  The problem isn't as black and white as "rookie GM = cheap = sucks".

The problem isn't that he hired A first time GM.  The problem is that he/they hired what seems to be the WRONG first time GM.

If significant moves aren't made by opening day, I think they ought to seriously consider moving in a new direction.  She just doesn't seem to be able to get enough moves done.  To be fair, the trades she has made have seemed to be good on paper at the time, even if they've not all worked out last year.

My prediction:

they'll keep her around through the season (isn't her contract up after this year, or is it next?), the team will improve by 7-10 games by being a bit better with injuries and slightly better in 1-run games, and be around 500, and then Bruce will see improvement even though he didn't spend anything, so he'll extend her.

Red Sox just released Hosmer. The guy is a former all-star, born and raised in Miami making league minimum. The marlins need to be all over that dude, he has bounce back written all over him and there is no clear first base situation here for next season.

i really do feel like they'll sign Hosmer because his bat SUCKS and nobody else wants him  but hey he can play defense which fits right in to what they want which are 2-1 losses.
