Marlins didnt have the position player bounty the Dbacks really were looking for in return.

This is what happens when you do a piss poor job of developing players.

Also, tbqfh, the Marlins should Not trade Eury Perez under any circumstance.

They should allow him to break camp with the big league club if he is one of the 5 best starters next spring.

 

A rotation headlined by Sandy and Eury is very very scary to other teams, especially if they could find a way to get an Eder to recover fully or a Luzardo to continue his upward trajectory.

The rest of the Marlins system at this point is really so full of holes and questions that its no wonder they arent /wont make any major prospect related trades.

 

Though I do like Jacob Berry even if he isnt that good defensively.

I also like Joe Mack still, even if he struggled some with the bat so far in his pro career.

A lot of their pitching prospects have major injury questions attached to them unfortunately.  Its a byproduct of being slow on the draw last year when you had a top 10 farm system you didnt utilize to its fullest potential. 

This offseason is a disaster, stating the obvious we need a new GM, and maybe even a new owner. MLB should really get involved here, this is getting out of hand. They should make Bruce Sherman sell the team to a capable owner.

They reluctant to overpaying (in fact they spend ZERO) in the FA market and it would only force them to overpaying in the trade market. All teams knowing Marlins have no choice (no more impactful FA in the market) but to make trade to acquire impactful players if they still want to do something in this off-season, so why not rip off them !?

It's to the point of “bizarre ”, a team with just 69 wins last season said they're in the “win now” mode but miss on all their targeted FA and didn't make any significant trade on the eve of the Christmas, it's just being unbelievable.

I mean, how could you fail at all the FAs you want to acquire !? if this team signing one or two impactful bat already then the atmosphere of this off-season would be totally different, right ?

Honestly yes this is accurate. They claim an intent to win but haven't been able to execute anything to improve the team. If they were openly tanking this would be a different story.

They really believe that they can offer a contract for the same amount as a contending team and therefore have just as equal or better of a chance (they probably believe latin players will want to sign here for even cheaper because their marketing team shamelessly panders as well when all anyone wants is a winning club). There are exceptions such as Turner who supposedly turned down twice as much to actively avoid playing as well. Yes sir, they've done a real fine job of making this team basically toxic to MLB players. 

But hey, I'm sure this also lets them keep running out the ol' "we tried real hard!" bit. This is also why it frustrates me to no end when some of y'all say you'd like a player on the team but when he signs elsewhere you say you wouldn't have offered him that much. That's literally the only way a significant FA will sign here - they have to drastically overpay above all teams to have a shot because of this culture of cheapness (COC) they've built since making the playoffs (which is when they should have started actually building a dominant team).
