It doesn't really matter what pick we get, the Marlins will go into the draft already convinced of who they want to draft and it'll be someone that no one else would have drafted until round 2 or round 3. Also, Conley and Nicolino definitely need to make starts to see what we have. Jose Urena is awful and should not be part of the future plans. A starting pitcher with such bad strikeout numbers has to have absolutely perfect control. Urena walks as many guys as he strikes out: about 3.5 per nine innings. That's REALLY bad in terms of Ks and bad in terms of walks, only acceptable in the guy is striking out double digits. Urena is not a Major League pitcher.

The Cardinals are the first team to 70 wins and they have went most of the season without Matt Holiday, Matt Adams, Adam Wainwright, and Jaime Garcia. The Marlins simply arent ABLE to shoulder any injuries. And that is entirely on the front office. They draft poorly and cheaply. They don't get involved with international talent. They don't target quality free agents. So in the unfortunate instance of a player getting hurt-which happens to literally every team-they cannot weather it because the cupboard is bare when it happens.

August 9, 201510 yr I agree with Spike too 100%. Can't use the whole "but injuries happened we coulda been a playoff team aaah". There was an obvious lack of depth at the start of the year. They gutted the minors to go for mostly rentals and it backfired. Now, there really isn't a plan B unless they want to stick with an MLB worst team again next year and see if things will go different this time around or gut the team. Yes that means everybody not named stanton and Fernandez. There is no right answer at the moment.
