Realmuto traded to Phillies

Featured Replies

Idk if there is a trade talk thread but there should be

There was a general one around the deadline but if you'd like to start a separate thread about a possible Realmuto trade then go right ahead. Usually we prefer separate threads for specific topics instead of one mega thread for a general topic.

Should I create like a "Winter Meetings Trade Talk" (due to that time being the most likely people get dealt) thread and talk about a couple guys or just one for each possible trade candidate? i wouldnt wanna clutter the front page with just a bunch of similar type threads

Way too soon for winter meetings, I'd make a specific thread for whoever you wanna talk about. Don't worry about the clutter, it doesn't really happen as you would expect.

I'll wait till we get closer anyways, things are really slow right now obviously.

I feel if you could land 2 top 50 prospects then you consider it, paying him isn't what we want in all honesty. Keeping the payroll low till we are actually near contending should be the plan. If we got offered the Robles Kieboom (younger brother) package I feel we should've taken it, hell I would've thrown in Kyle (when he was on fire) for another prospect to even it out.

You have to start paying someone sometime, though.  All depends on what's offered back.

But I feel like we always end up back in the same place, regardless of what the thread was about...

This has to be at least a semi-realistic package though, no Vlad Jr type of stupidity, I feel a package around Victor Robles or Forrest Whitley would be a realistic dream scenario. My ideal trade would be J.T. Realmuto/One of our controllable relievers/and maybe one of our under-developed OF prospects to the Nationals for OF Victor Robles and Carter Kieboom. This is a perfect trade for us infusing the num2 OF prospect in all the land and a top 6 SS  in Carter Kieboom. Even if they asked for a bit more I'd do it, I honestly feel J.T. and his contract wouldn't align with our rebuild properly. A deal around Forrest Whitley as well would be superb but I don't know as much about the Astros and their needs like the Nationals.

Shoot any of your ideas here

I think you can absolutely hold out for a teams best prospect when it comes to JT. He's athletic enough where he can stay behind the plate for a while and rest some at 1B- I'm sure he can play 3B in a pinch and he's somewhat affordable as far as resigning.

If a team can get him resigned, and I'd make that the nessesity on any deal- I'd push for Vladdy Jr and similar players.

Potential isn't the same as projected. JT is projected to remain a great catcher in terms of CS, CERA and defense. He's got pop and can hit / steal.

Theres only 4 or 5 great catchers and a dozen failed prospects every year.

Shoot for Vladdy types, settle for others if they can't resign him.

Astros: P Forrest Whitley or OF Kyle Tucker, 1B Yordan Alvarez (Cuban), SP Cionel Perez (Cuban)

Braves: P Mike Soroka, P Touki Toussaint (local kid), C William Contreras

Rays: SS Wander Franco, 1B/P Brendan McKay, C Ronaldo Hernandez

Dont think the A’s would part with Luzardo, but he looks damn good. Robles seems too much like a Mike Hill, which scares me. None of the other teams in need of a C seem have the top tier prospects that excite me.

My dream trade for JT Realmuto...

Kyle Tucker + Yordan Alvarez + Cionel Perez + Garrett Stubbs

or

Forrest Whitley + Yordan Alvarez + Freudis Nova + Garret Stubbs

Cleveland makes sense- McKenzie, Nolan Jones, and Noah Naylor.

Padres- McKenzie Gore, Luis Urias, and Chris Paddack

Astros, Whitley and Alvarez

Not saying Realmuto isn’t highly valued but some of these trades are just a lil too much imo.

Some of these trades are very “optimistic” I’d say, oh and in no way will we get Vlad Jr  or a prospect similar to him. He is projected to be a damn MVP guys, I wish but that’ll never happen and no other prospect is like him right now I’m that aspect. Our ceiling on a prospect in a J.T. Trade is Kyle Tucker or Víctor Robles or Whitley
