Doesn't take a rocket scientist to realize no one is untouchable. Get rid of cancer Chisholm, maximize tanner Scott return and then be happy with anything else from the scrap heap.

I still have Hanley as my biggest disappointment. He wrecked his swing and production that one offseason he bulked up to give himself more power and he was never the same afterward. He just got lazier and lazier as well. I loved Jazz when he came over and was so disappointed when he had his first major injury but whatever. Then it happened again - what terrible luck! Then there was the Rojas snafu where Miggy (likely) called him a child. No sweat Jazz, I got your back! I like the personality! Move forward a few more seasons....same shit and he's riding on rep (rep which has largely been fabricated by himself and the bizarre decision to give him a game cover). He is just a moron. Sorry for shitting on you back in the day Miggy Ro. You knew this guy was a pile of shit long before any of us.

I wanted him to be a franchise guy as much as anyone. Unfortunately, he is pretty much worth a bag of baseballs and is a complete clubhouse cancer. Sell him for whatever the hell we can get. He is and will always be nothing. To make a prospect comparison, he is an older Kahlil Watson. Character does count.

A few thoughts on this: -this latest rebuild will be years longer than thought (hoped) -Jazz should go regardless - I feel like his attitude may affect the rest of the guys -this could also be Mish setting himself up for "underpromise, overdeliver" since he's been wrong in the past.
July 22, 20241 yr Can't blame the Marlins honestly; they aren't stupid. Jazz is stupid. I mean, JUST PLAY THE RIGHT NOTES Edited July 22, 20241 yr by mrchainsaw

He plays terrible defense and is overrated is my guess Edit: ask. @pollythewog how Jazz's CF play has been this year - he's about the only person left watching the games. I want to say he posts at least once or twice a game about how awful Jazz is in CF. My main gripe is that he is just an idiot with a terrible baseball IQ. He doesn't seem to care about getting better (i.e. he just keeps doing the same shit with no change) and for his blazing speed the dude is TERRIBLE at stealing bases (again, very low baseball IQ and seems to think his talent alone is all he needs). Most of us also kinda get the vibe that he's a clubhouse cancer and maybe Miggy Ro was right all along to call him out on his shit. Edited July 23, 20241 yr by hovertical

The problem is he thinks he's already there and doesn't need to improve or get better at things. The biggest problem for Jazz is Jazz, and he doesn't see it, because Jazz is in his way.

He's literally lived off of his unearned rep for a few years now. The team isn't winning with him on it this year and he's been injured when they were winning so I don't see how he adds much in the grand scheme of things - he's also going to want WAY more than he's worth because he thinks he's producing at an all-star level year over year.

It’s not only the team/coaching but the stadium itself is TERRIBLE hitters. Plus playing in front of 15 fans that never get your adrenaline pumped, it’s just a recipe for shitty offense

His contract is like $2.5M this year and he’ll most likely go 20/30 or better if he stays healthy. A 2.5 to 3 WAR player at that price is pretty darn good. He’s also more valuable defensively at 2b. if they’re not going get any good prospects for him they should just hold onto him really. He’ll cost what, like $7M max next year?
July 24, 20241 yr Just wanted to chime in with a random stat. 3 out of the top 5 hitters in the NL are former Marlins. What time to be alive. 😃
