Should we play with the roof open more often?
It was exceptionally comfortable last night for a June game. I personally do not mind the humidity even later in the summer and would choose to have it open for night games-but never for an afternoon game. With the roof open, it is obviously brighter and just feels better. Maybe they leave it open on clear summer nights and have the A/C blasting-serious utility bills.

Carlos Zambrano vs Chris Volstad So Far
i think volstad will eventually be good. his splits with runners on are ridonkulous, so he probably needs work pitching out of the stretch. if he can pitch with runners on as he does with bases empty, he'll be good. If he pitches so well with the bases empty, how is it so many batters get on base? The bases are always empty at the start of his blow up innings.

Attendance
Like a late arriving crowd, this is a late arriving reply. Pierre, were you writing from your seat on Friday or elsewhere? If elsewhere, you should be the first to give us a reason why people did not fully pack the place on Friday.

Marlins Ballpark Seating Question
The letter rows are lower. The number rows in the upper deck are the second level. Cool that people who would never consider going to a game are coming en masse and one of the attractions is seeing a game at the new park.

Two fingers on the eye on hits
Might want to just use these for big hits. Doing it after a routine single might get kinda lame. particularly when you're not hitting well. as in "did you see that?" "I did! Nice bloop single! Few more of those & you'll be hitting .240!" Yea, doing it after every hit is too much. Like when Randall Hill used to catch a 3 yd out pattern, get tackled and get up and do his celebration. They were talking about it on MLB Tonite and doing it to each other.

Law Schools Lawsuit
This is just one big inter-law school trial game. Otherwise who would believe that very intelligent people entering law school believed that jobs are automatic and salaries guaranteed, just because that is what they "were promised" in the sales hype. As someone who recently went through the process, the literature can be quite persuasive. For example, they start off by telling you that their MEDIAN 1st-year, private-sector employment salary is $120k-$160k, depending on the school and its location. Cardozo, for example, probably says $160k, since that's market rate in NYC.Then, they tell you that 90-something percent of the graduating class was employed at graduation, and 99% within 9 months. Seems pretty great. And if you believe in your ability to work hard and do well, i.e. above median, how could you NOT fall into that $120-$160k group? It's not that there's a blind expectation of making all that money; rather, the school reports compelling statistics, and often the students have a good reason to think they'll fair pretty well at the school and thus have a good shot at that group. There is undoubtedly some responsibility to educate yourself, but you could argue that it's reasonable to rely on purported factual statistics from the schools, and maybe that reliance can be twisted into a legal claim. Well done, and I am not being sarcastic. You make valid points, making an argument and there is nothing false in the statements. Yet, even so, it is not hard to counter that all one needs to do is also point out numerous articles in publications, newspapers, go speak with a lawyer, contact law firms etc, and it would be easy to see that the responsibility to understand that caveat emptor applies and that prospective lawyers, as a group, could be held to a higher level of being aware of the reality of the job market and the opportunities available. And as we all know on this board, statistics can certainly be twisted. I also feel that while many looked at the sales hype with a healthy cynicism, there is a confidence that "I will get that job and be that success" that exists. Anyway, it will be interesting to see how far this goes.

POLL : Is Opening Day 1993 or Opening Night 2012 bigger for you ?
93-easy. The emotion I had walking in to the stadium that day. The emotion was just that it was baseball, major league and our own team. There were no concerns about the future of the sport-no contraction, no fire sales, no movement out of town-just the joy of having baseball. This one is important also because of what it means, the guarantee of baseball and no more worries about contraction, moving out of town etc. and of course, a real ball park feel. But nothing can beat the pure 1993 feeling.

Opening Night Tickets Not Mailed with Season Tix?
Well, our story is good. We received the fed ex package, the letter from Samson and the parking for the two Yankee games. Oh, only that was all that was delivered, they left out ALL the tickets for the season. We called, they apologized and said by mid-week next week.

Seating Question
I am in the 310 section Row B. This was before the accident last year. I didn't get row A because I never like being in the first row of the upper deck-people leaping over you to get a foul ball. After I got it, I was also concerned about the railing, thought it would be better in C or D. I didnt change, so I will only know later.

Parking at the new Ballpark
The parking website has tickets available starting April 13th. None are available for April 4th, but I did buy parking directly from the marlins by phone today for each Yankee exhibition game. The Yankee game is not on the site for parking only.

Parking at the new Ballpark
Just a comment about the parking rules. As a season ticket buyer, my only option was purchasing a full year parking, which I didnt do for $1,200. Seems that all the people who purchased individual game tickets also had the option of purchasing a parking pass at the same time. Seems a bit unfair that I could not choose games to purchase a garage pass since I also have a ticket for any individual game and choose not to for the others. Granted, I would have to decide in advance, but I should have the same option as a single game buyer, if not more.

Parking at the new Ballpark
Went to the hurricane game, no issue, just paid $5 to get in to the garage. I can see a real problem leaving when the stadium is full. I did not purchase parking, after buying a full season of tickets(even though I will probably only go to about 25-30 games) I did not want to spend $1200 more for 50 games. I am hoping my experience living here all my life and the availability of parking around the stadium that existed for Dolphin and Hurricane games filled to 80000 capacity will work out for a 37000 seat stadium. Besides, even if you do park in the garages, will you even get out to the streets in less than a half hour.

HR sculpture to be removed?
Samson can say that, but the Marlins have already made one misstep when it comes to vision-related issues. The batter's eye in center field was originally painted a shade of green, but Spencer reports it will have to be repaintedblack so batters can pick up the ball as it comes out of the pitcher's hand. Can we really say that owner Jeffrey Loria's excitement to install theRed Grooms-designed Skeeball acid trip didn't gloss over any concern for the park's hitters? I knew I liked it, but now I finally know why.

Marlins FanFest at the New Ballpark 3/3/12
Oh I will say this, I don't care if you don't like me on this board or not, but everyone, go get your regular exams and don't put them off for anything else. Make time for them ! We've had our disagreements in the past, but your news is f***ing heartwrenching to hear. I wish nothing but the best for both of you in a time like this. Ditto to all of this. Awful news. Many people, including me, have been affected by cancer in loved ones. Let's hope for that miracle. Thanks. Until it hits home no one knows or understands just how hard it is. I dealt with my dad's MS for 15 years before he passed away in 1999, and Mom became bed-ridden last year for her last 4 months (she passed away July 25th). Now with my jewel dying its been a hard 8 months. Last prognosis was on Feb 27th and we were told 6 to 10 weeks. Now I've gone blubbering again..... You can tell that all the wishes from EVERYONE are sincere caring and concern. May you find strength in your family and friends to get you through this time. You are fortunate to have a true love for all these years.

Stanton to go by 'Giancarlo'
Stanton surprised at Giancarlo feedback... JUPITER, Fla. -- Mike Stanton's decision to go by his actual name, Giancarlo, has been met with a lot of attention and opinions. And that has taken him by surprise. "It's not a big deal," Stanton said. "It's my real name. I've had it on my nameplate always." His full name is Giancarlo Cruz-Michael Stanton, but he has gone by Mike for most of his life. Now, the Miami Marlins right fielder has decided to be announced during games and referred to as Giancarlo. However, Stanton said he will still autograph baseballs as Mike instead of Giancarlo. Stanton went to Twitter on Wednesday, changed his handle to @Giancarlo27_ and posted this message, "From now on, I'll be going by my real name..Giancarlo!. Not Metta world peace, not ochocinco. Just real, Just me!" "I just wanted to make sure it's not like I think I'm cool now or that it's some random name that I switched it to," Stanton said of the tweet. "But whatever, I can care less if you don't like it. If you like it, then cool, and I'll respond and talk to you. If you don't, that's my name and that's like me talking mess about your name." http://miami.marlins...ok_mia&c_id=mia Just a comment, why do people, when they mean to say they do not care what someone thinks, instead say they "can care less.." or I could care less". That means they care somewhat. OK, back to my hole

New Stadium Pics
I am far from an artsy fartsy, but the stadium/art gallery concept is one I am embracing. I have not found anything to dislike about it. And the frickin home run machine is so tacky that it is great.

Craig Counsell retires
According to MLB Network. And Washington Post http://www.washingto...qg5P_story.html Well deserved retirement, not too bad of a career. That pic is easily my favorite in Marlins history. Lest we never forget the sac fly in the 9th by him, or he probably does not even get the chance to be in this picture.

Carlos Zambrano Acquired
I love the perspective, we generally like this deal-cub fans writing on mlb.com that they really like a young pitcher with an upside vs Z.

Team Colors and New Logo
So im at a show in Tennessee and look across the room and some guy is wearing the new marlins hat. Cool. Miami. Interstate. I'm seeing the hats more and more. Just recently picked up a black, Stanton jersey shirt. Was this by chance a black replica Stanton jersey? I ask because I have been looking for personalized black replica jerseys and can't find one anywhere. I got my hat, wore it and still think it looks dopey, but it is ours.

Remembering the Cousins/Posey Collision
I had the pleasure of meeting two Giant fans, in from SF for the holidays at a party Sat night. It was a pleasure, talking baseball for about an hour at a party instead of meeting new people and discussing things neither side really cares about. Anyway, they were not even aware of Sabean's "apology", yet they still think it was not clean. Unfortunately, they base their POV on the freeze frame analysis that took about 5 minutes, as if life and the split section action can now actually be in slow motion. Too bad things do not happen in stop action, super slo-mo to a play that happens over and over again throughout the season and for as long as baseball has been played. If Posey had just rolled backwards like what happens most of the time, it would have been a hard collsion at the plate, end of story. So, was it really the play or just bad luck that his foot caught and snapped.

Question about neighborhood parking
I'm not originally from here so I only had the chance to attend one event at the Orange Bowl (an FIU game....so I was able to park at the stadium), therefore I don't have a very intimate knowledge of the neighborhood parking scene around the stadium for events. Which street's residents will most likely offer parking on their property? The area north of NW 7th Street seems to offer easy access to the Dolphin. The areas to the east and south of the stadium seem to consist of more multi family units with fewer large lawns to offer spots. What info would you guys have for someone like me. On a side note, I was recently looking for news on transportation for Marlins games. There are some sites that have posted articles on the topic in the last couple of months but nothing concrete. As I understand it the new garages will offer about 5,000 spots but those are going toward players, employees, and seasons ticket holders. Public transit links are still up in the air. The neighborhood parking scene seems like the best option for fans that intend to go to a bunch of games without buying parking in the stadium lots. Thanks in advance for any input. Well, all anyone can go on is past history. For years I attended dolphin and cane games without having a ticket for the parking lots, when there were consistently 75,000 people. If you got there an hour or 1 1/2 hrs before the game, you could find spots on people property. I used to also park a few blocks south on Flagler st, where businesses would sell spaces. Over the years, people were always nice and usually, you would try to park at the same house. Actually, friendships developed and people cared and watched your car. OK, it is Christmas and that is a nice story, but true. Bottom line, I cannot go to every game, and won't spend $ 1200 for the garages, but I feel that with only 37,000 people, parking should be easier than it was for football. I would look south and east of the stadium.

Marlins Stadium Contractors Cut Corners
Well, since I moved to an upper deck seat in the new place, row 2 of the vista, look out below. Seriously, I sat in the upper deck of the orange bowl for decades, and although some concrete would fall off occassionally, if that place didnt come down with all the stomping, I am not quite as worried as the fired engineer is (" I won't take my kids to that place"). But, to what extent it is true, I am disappointed.

Marlins sign Aaron Rowand
ok, I remember this guy, was with the white sox with that funny batting stance. I would have never guess we sign him, really though, from what I saw he is a solid player. Im happy with this signing the wobble, the butt, the bat-good minor league contract signing.
