I'm glad I'm back here, I've been REALLY busy (for the last 3 months) at my job and haven't even had the time to post here (I just looked at my last post, back in early June where you actually complimented me very well, thanks for that) WHILE trying to major in Pharmocology, and minor in Chemistry. You wonder how I can catch the game every night!! It's not easy..

GREAT song.

STANTON goes beyond stats. His abilty is on display and it's just a matter of having him get even better as he goes year to year. It's scary good thinking about the possibilities. To compare his current stats to a superstar like A-Rod misses the point. STANTON also has that presence that you never see as a rookie. Class, humility, defense, strength, laughter...he's a superstar rookie for sure..and beyond. If he has a career equal to A-Rod /Pujols that would be fine....but I see even better.

The geezers on the board are picking up on this one. Can't you see how all or most of the older crowd(like me), who are normally conservative with rookies and "potential" players...going collectively nuts about STANTON.

You realize you just said you expect him to be just about the greatest player who has ever played the game, right? A-Rod and Pujols are damn near the top of that list. He's going to have to K a whole lot less for that to come remotely true. I think he'll be spectacular ala 6 WAR/year, but top 5 ever? I'll wait on saying that. There isn't anything not to love about him, though.

I would like to contribute to this thread although my crush is just a regular crush. Watching Mikey flourish this season has been a nice plus in an otherwise less than mediocre season. His potential is limitless and I can't wait to see him become better and better.

I saw and heard those comments and, after I got over the shock of hearing the national media say something positive about a marlin for once, was incredibly proud. It's like he's family at this point, it's crazy.

What did they say? I was watching the game, but at Steve's Pizza doing that 36 inch pizza challenge, so needless to say I wasn't paying attention :$

I think Pujols will end up there, but that's a debate for the ages (literally and cliche-ly).

If Pujols continues at his current pace for the rest of his career (or at least the majority), he's definitely top 5, imo. He's incredible.

That seems to be more of a football thing then baseball. Ted Williams never won any rings and is regarded as one of the games best hitters. If Pujols continues to hit like he has WS rings or not I think he goes down as one of the greatest hitters ever.
