Here's the "protocols" and it's very vague, says to just use caution but also says it won't restrict them and it says MLB will not enforce it. The players are adults who should be using their brains but one could make a case of this not being a very clear or a very strong protocol or rule. It's like a teacher telling the class to "just try and behave." If I'm a player who stopped at a not very crowded hotel bar for food I'd fight back at these protocols.

Yeah, that's more of a, "Hey, be responsible."

It's entirely possible that whoever brought this in was being responsible.  You never know where you're going to pick it up.

All of that said, I have lost an uncle to it (who had a serious case of diabetes), but I know many, many other people who have had it, and every one of them has felt flu-ish for 2-3 days, then been fine.  Most recently, someone that had a 103 fever one day, and was fine and mowing his lawn the next.  I hope I don't regret saying this, but I have struggled to really take this seriously.

Tbh they won't shut down for just the Marlins. They'll shut down when it includes more teams having outbreaks. If it stays to just the Marlins they'll keep playing.

especially since apparently an "outbreak" for another team is classified as two players testing positive

Why cancel now because the Cardinals got it? Because they make the league more money?

The Marlins have had 20 cases in their clubhouse this week, and the league hasn’t cared at all. The front office has basically had to sign a brand new team. Tell the other teams to play on.

Maybe the Cardinals can sign Das.

As @SonOfJackrequested we finally have a day with no new positives for the Marlins.

Multiple Cardinals are now positive though so gotta keep an eye on that. Still nothing on the Phillies surprisingly.

Weird how the Cardinals now have an increase in positives yet they only postponed today's game and tomorrow's is technically still on.

It's a fine line. It can be one extreme to another. But the difficulty in controlling the spread means it should still be taken seriously because 10 people can have it and feel fine but any one of those 10 spreads it to even one person that it can kill and that's the problem.

There's a rumor going around that some Cardinals players went to a casino now.

I don't buy it yet BUT ... I just hope these fans keep the same energy. As I said in my last post.

If the Marlins going to a club was irresponsible and reckless and all that, and the Marlins players need to be suspended / team needs to lose draft picks / etc etc etc, the exact same needs to happen to the Cardinals, then. By their logic.

Yea I laugh at those saying loss of draft picks and international money and forfeiture of games etc. Whatever happened was out of the reasonable control of the organization and the rest of the team. Nothing more than heavy fines needs to happen then let the team decide I'd anything more like a suspension is necessary.

When are we apologising to Heyman

Once MLB and/or the Marlins put out an official statement confirming full on wrongdoings.

Definitely not apologizing to Nightengale or Heyman for reckless reporting, however.

I would not be surprised if all 30 teams are doing things they shouldn't be doing. It only matters when you get caught and then all the fingers get pointed at you.

"I think maybe I could have heard, perhaps, through a slightly permeable wall where it was hard to decipher what was said, that all 30 clubs got together for a massive orgy, potentially, involving 3,000 nurses who have done nothing but treat COVID patients, allegedly, for up to possibly a year, I think. One guy for sure."

I hope this is on the players for being irresponsbile morons.

Maybe David Price will villify his fellow players for being insanely irresponsible!

This is on BOTH MLB and MLBPA like I've said all along.. Neither side took health protocols seriously.  Both sides put economics first through tenth in priority.

The bubble is just as much on the players for not happening as owners.  Players were like, but my freedoms!

You can have all the health directives in the world, when the players really dont give a fuck and dont even attempt to take things seriously, what the fuck do you expect will happen?  Just becuase it may not be written in stone doesn't absolve hte players for being irresonsible idiiots (if its proven by players going out to clubs et al).

So many young people (of which players are in this demographic) that have allowed numbers to just get out of fucking control.  Though a lot of other morons along the way too.

It was Nightengale with the initial rumor? Ok.

Look, I hate journalists as much as the next person but every time we've tried to defend the Marlins from a rumor the last 2 decades it's turned out to be true.

It was not Nightengale who started it, it was some random dude on Twitter who is best known for being a sometimes Twitch streamer.
