Thank you all, when i visit here before my family would invite me to games now that i'm retired i would love to go to many games, i was watching the game last night and the play by play guy was discussing when the team is getting the Hammer back, my wife turn to me and ask who or what is Hammer? it is those things that are annoying, thank you all PS. I still think the announcers are boring. To each his own-can't see how that annoyed you-but again, go to the games and enjoy. Try listening to other teams, like the Braves, except for Boog, they will put you comatose by the 2nd inning.

I'm new to s. fla and love baseball,the only team here are the Marlins of course, would love to be a fan but have a few questions. 1. The team is in first place, great weather and could only draw 12,000 fans to a game 2. when i watch on tv, every player coming to bat have a nickname, how could someone new know the players when all you hear is a nickname, 3. Why don't the announcers talk about the game rather than everything they do all day and what they eat, etc etc. Don't knock me down as i read some of the threads, it seems like you can't say anything negative about the team, If this is serious, then if you would "love to be a fan" then be one and that makes the 3 questions completely and totally irrelevant and frivolous as well as not worthy of any response. Hopefully now the attendance will be 12,001.

This is off topic, but does anyone else hate it when we lose and a player from the opposing team is interviewed? The Heat do it too and I always feel like throwing something at the T.V. Incase you were wondering, Baseball Tonight was unaware that Ricky pitched. I know this because they didn't show him once. Did they even know it was Marlins vs D-Backs? I didn't see Baseball Tonight or SportsCenter but going by what everyone else on this board said, they only seemed to know that Brandon Webb pitched and lost. I wonder if they're even aware who the first place team in the NL East is. It's the Phillies right? Bicardi Orange Bowl Park The problem with incorporating "Orange Bowl" into the name is that some of the stadium would have to be colored orange for it to make sense and that's just not good. You can have one old orange bleacher seat installed as a momento and leave the scoreboard up-it's still there. The thought of not having that orange bowl sound system is sad.

You have to wonder how much is the "big fish in a small pond" syndrome. In Detroit they have established players that took them to a World Series. In Florida he was the established player that won a World Series. He also had free reign of the clubhouse. Now you've got Fredi tightening down a bit more and Gonzo as the clubhouse leader. How would Miggi react? You also have to wonder how Miggy is adjusting to not being the leader. He was not much of a leader here, but he was not a follower either. Basically did what he wanted to. On that team you have veterans like Pudge and Sheffield, not that Sheffield was ever a leader, but a sour personality, and they may have an effect also. Who knows-Miggy is too good and will have his usual year at the plate. Leyland also does not do the nice nice to make you feel good if you pout.

the two outs runs are annoying and its also annoying how we cant seem to get to 6 games over .500 but if we can hit like w did tonight and scotty and burke do what they are capable of we should be fine for the series. and waechter seems to have god control and good stuff.... i would like him to start over volstad. We were 6 games over .500 once this year, I believe. As for 2 out runs, the 3 runs we scored to tie the game, happened with no one on and 2 outs. Loney made an error, and we immediately rallied. Worked both ways. We just have to accept this loss, and be proud of the fact that unlike last year, this team seems to play with heart, at least. That's all you can ask for. What bout Silver/Teal/Black combination seats... ????? I like that, but with this combo. The bottom of the seat, when it is folded up, is black, the top half of the backrest is black, then the seat and lower half of the backrest can be in silver and teal. Why? this way it has the colors but when the seats are not in use they will not stand out on TV. Oh, I did flunk art in elementary school.

Are the return dates the expected time to start rehab assignments or is it the expected return to the majors.

Put me in that camp that says this stuff does not motivate players and somehow make them hit a 93 MPH fastball further than they would if it weren't for some random no-name scout spouting off nonsense. I mean, let's use common sense about this. What about the hundreds of players that are rated correctly as being career minor leaguers or utility bench guys? Why aren't they somehow motivated to play better? If you have talent and the hunger to make tens of millions of dollars to play a game, then you don't need a scout to motivate you, and if you do...you're in trouble. You are absolutely right, you have to have the talent in the first place, or it will not matter. But, sometimes, especially with young players like Jacobs, who are not rookies anymore, something can ignite a passion to focus and concentrate, along with a realization that they belong. This is how I look at his attitude this year, just like Olsen. There are turning points that some athletes miss, others do not and all of a sudden they blossom. I like that Jacobs and the others on the team seem to accept that they are not the new guys on the block, that they are good and they can just basically beat the other guys. It is a long season, the focus can be disrupted at times. It sure beats the heck out of "we are glad to be given the opportunity to play at this level and now we have to show we can stay here". GO FISH.

What's up, Marlins fans? Yes, it's really me, your favorite Sun-Sentinel columnist/national baseball writer. Just wanted you to know I stop by here occasionally and I appreciate the passion for baseball that still shows up on this site. Congrats to Admin W for building such a following. But for those conspiracy theorists out there, I truly have NOTHING against Marlins management or ANY individual players any more. Got tired of wasting that energy long ago. We're all in this together. If people care about the Marlins, that means more people will read my stuff and listen when I'm on the radio. That means I get to keep my job and keep paying my mortgage. Yet that doesn't mean my role is to be a fan like you or get out the pom-poms every night. When I write a column, my job is to entertain you or make you think and sometimes even to make you angry.
